Re: Icom IC-910 circuit help

Hi All, I have also had the same problem on both 2m and 70cm. Colin VK5DK also has had this problem and changed the driver chip and as far as I know it's now going ok again, I have purchased the chip via Icom but not yet installed it. I have however applied considerable heat to the driver pcb and so...

Re: VK3UM Silent Key

This certainly is a tragic loss and shock to the amateur fraternity. Having worked at the same establishment for a few years with Doug I always looked forward to catching up at Gippstech and as already mentioned will be a great loss to all that knew him and his work in the EME field. Vale Doug VK3UM...

3.4G Activity Day. Five amateurs from the Ballarat area namely VK3KG, VK3IDL, VK3BNC, VK3KQT and VK3AXH went to Mt Buninyong with 3 setups to tryout. Overall we contacted around 15 stations each from Mt Leura near Camperdown, the broader Geelong area and East of Melbourne. The greatest distance for ...

Advice was posted on the N0UK EME logger by ZL1RS that Harry ZL2ADU is now SK. Harry was a keen 2m EME'r that was the most regular ZL station in recent years. I had many contacts with him via
EME and also a Tropo qso in 2013. He was still very active on EME right up till the end. RIP Harry

Re: Ex VHF TV 50 volt power supply

Thanks for the reponses so far. It is different to the 28 volt NEC supplies. The higher current 28 volt supplies ie 180amp use different pins in the centronics connector. I have one of these going and it uses pins 3 and 21. The 50 volt supply is designed to slide into the rack along side the PA modu...

Ex VHF TV 50 volt power supply

I'm looking for info on a NEC 3 phase 150 amp 50 volt SMPS used to power V1600/A1200 NEC TV transmitters. These can easily be converted to single phase but require a link on the control socket which has a outaide profile like a DB9 but looks like a Centronics socket. It has 14 pins ie 7 each side. A...

Thanks for the input. We would be operating Saturday only at this stage with several of the guys using their own micowave gear. Between us we have 2m - 10G and using the BARG callsign VK3BML. Individuals may also use their own callsigns as well. Let's hope the wx is kind to us all for a change. Rega...

Re: VK3 Microwave Test and Tune Day Spring 2014 9th November

Congratulations again to EMDRC for another great opportunity to test and display a variety of microwave equipment from 1296MHz through to 47GHz. As always it's the chance to not only give your own gear a run but to see how others do things which gives us idea's on how to improve our own individual s...

Re: The 3.4 GHz amateur band - it's future ?

Just a note to say I received an email from the ACMA having previously submitted comments to retain the 3.4G band as it is. The thread of the email was an invitation to submit further comments after being directed to all the draft statements put out by the ACMA regarding the proposed use the 3300-36...

Re: The 3.4GHz amateur band - it's future ?

Interesting comments from all the postings. The bottom line is 3.4G enthusiasts want to retain this band and the best way to do this is to submit your comments as suggested by the WIA. I see some grumblings about field day only actvity. It's not that difficult to setup a home station on the lower mi...

Re: The 3.4GHz amateur band - it's future ?

I support the retention of the 3.4G microwave band. Like all microwave bands 3.4G has it's own characteristics. Having just had my 1st contact on this band over a 132km distance I was surprised how well it performed. Microwave enthusiasts should be encouraged to setup home stations as well. I've had...

Re: IC-910H Weird TX issues - help please!!!

Like a lot of IC910 owners I've also had power issues on both 2m and 70cm. Each time it has failed I've resoldered the components on the small common driver pcb that provides drive for both 2 and 70 bands. The pcb is mounted on a heatsink and only has 5 components on it. The pcb is called the driver...
