Re: VK3 Microwave Day 10th March 2014
I went to Mt Buninyong in company with VK3KG, VK3AIG and VK3KQT. Had 23cm, 13cm and 3cm and had good contacts on all bands but unfortunately no long distance stuff. I reckon that propagation was not quite as good as on previous occasions. However as has already been said better than being at home an...

24GHz dish and feed
Hello All,
I'm looking for a microwave dish with feed for 24GHz. If anyone has one or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Regards, Ian - VK3AXH

Re: WSPR for 144 and above
I forgot to add that his morning I got wspr reports from Peter VK5PJ and we subsequently went to JT65B and had a 2 way contact which is one of the reasons I
like to use the wspr mode.

Re: WSPR for 144 and above
Hi Leigh and Perrin, Many thanks for you responses and views. I agree completely with your comments and understand the reasons for what you are doing. I guess I'm a two way communicator so we have slightly different applications from results obtained. To help evaluate the effectiveness of wspr and e...

WSPR for 144 and above
Hello All, I've recently been trying out the WSPR program on 2m and although I see plenty of stations both transmitting and receiving I wonder what the value of it when all that happens is individuals just reporting their results. My understanding of propagation indicators as a tool is to use it to ...

Re: Is EME worth a go?
Wayne,
Sorry I got the band wrong. I will blame it on my old age. BTW 5 wl on 2mx is 10m not 30m. Hope I got this bit right as I have 4 of them.
good Luck, Ian - VK3AXH

Re: Is EME worth a go?
Hi Wayne, You may see some of the really big guns ie with large 32 and 64 yagi arrays but given the size of your antenna it would be difficult. My advice would be to build say a couple of 10 el yagi's as a minimum or one big single yagi say on a 5 wavelength boom and see what you can pick up. There ...

10 GHz dish pointing arrangements for portable use
I'd be interest to hear/see what the 10G fraternity are using to obtain fairly accurate dish pointing when in the field. I currently use a readout that provides 1 degree steps and initial setup is done by setting the 0/360 pointer to North allowing for magnetic variation with the aid of a compass. H...

Beacons - Ballarat
I wish to notify that the Ballarat 70cm and 23cm beacons are off the air as of today 18th Sept 2012. We are currently relocating them from Mt Buninyong to Green Hill QF12wi which is approx 5km North West of Mt Buninyong. This action has arisen due to access problems. It is hoped they won't be off ai...

Digital angle meters
Note all the comments and yes they were available this last week. I will visit the 3 local stores tomorrow and see what's still available. Note the use for astronomy as well. I previously purchased several small units from Bunnings but they no longer have them either for around $22 however there are...

digital angle meter
This week Aldi stores have a digital spirit level/angle meter combination for $20. This device would be very useful to assist in determining and setting up offset dishes for microwave use. The device appears to have to separate sections ie the digital display (which has back lighting) and what appea...

Elevation Indicator
Available this week is a digital spirit level angle meter from Aldi at a cost of $20. I have used these in the past and they work very well however this one is slightly different in that it appears to have a rotary encoder ( haven't pulled it apart yet) as it only measures angle when the moveable ar...

Re: Dick Smith "Lab" Power supply Q1755
Alan,
I have also been using both the Manson SPS9600 and DOSS SPS8400 40 amp supplies for a number of years and both
work great. Even better when you get them on special at $199.
Good Luck, Ian - VK3AXH

Re: Specan H-P 141T/8552B/8553B problem
Hi Andy,
Have you spoken to Alan VK3XPD who has quite a lot of experience with the HP141T series. At present he is in Norfolk but would suggest if you
don''t get an early answer try him in a couple of weeks time. i've not seen that problem with my unit.
Good luck, Ian Vk3AXH
