Re: Lurking 101
Admin I confirm that I am a lurker - at times - when I feel that I can't contribute to the current topics and I suspect that many others act in a similar manner. When I have something to put forward, I do so and have often started new threads rather than just adding comments. I think that this is my...

Re: Kenpro KR-1000S
Ron My recollection is that these were marketed under the Kenpro brand but were built to the Yaesu design and specs so in effect is is the equivalent of the G-1000DXA or DXC model. If you look at this page ( http://kur02.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30&Itemid=24 ) ...

I can confirm that I will NOT be active during the MAD this weekend as I have a clash with other activities.
Maybe next MAD or during the Spring FD in November.

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat July 23rd 2016
Scott Unable to commit at this stage but will keep it in mind. There are a number of major things scheduled to happen next month so may not have the opportunity to go portable, but if it happens then I will probably be heading south east or south west from here. I will have to run up all the gear pr...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day
I didn't go portable yesterday due to a number of considerations, including the weather forecast here in SE Qld, but the outcome had I gone to the effort would have possibly driven me to give up participation in these events completely. I worked a total of 11 callsigns in 41 contacts over 8 hours fr...

Re: 2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day
I won't be going portable due to local factors but have decided to operate from the home QTH (QG62LG51) on Saturday from midday to 8PM (or thereabouts), regardless of the weather, and hopeful of enough activity in SE Q'ld and Northern NSW to keep me occupied. Maybe some more Es like the unexpected 6...

Re: 17 Meter Dipole Help Needed Please
My experience while building a lot of yagis over a lot of years is that the construction determines the "End Effect" (Ee) multiplier value. The commonly used value for wire dipoles varies between about 0.92 and 0.95 for insulated and non-insulated wire types but it is often lower than that...

2016 Winter VHF/UHF Field Day
The 2016 Winter FD is coming up on 18/19 June and the WIA page for it is here : http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/vhfuhf/ There are no specific rules shown for the Winter event as yet but they are probably similar to the 2016 Summer FD, dates excepted. Unfortunately I won't be participating thi...

Re: VK9NU - Norfolk Island
Ross I haven't been back to LOTW to see if they are there but with your advice, they must have worked through the queue. Sorry to not have made it on 24950 with you as that would have then been 5. Maybe you will make it on 12m with VK9NT as it is only a few days now before they hit the island. The '...

The VK9NU log has now been uploaded to eQSL but I am waiting on a certification before it can be uploaded to LOTW.

Re: VK9NU - Norfolk Island
The VK9NU 2016 operation has finished given that I arrived back in VK4 last night.. I managed 976 QSOs in the log across the 21,18, 14, 7 and 3.5MHz bands although I did try the 24, 28 and 50MHz bands without success. Propagation was extremely variable and a solar event around the time of my arrival...

Re: 23 on 23 Plus MAD - Sat April 23rd 2016
G'day Doug Any chance we could try on 6m Meteor Scatter during your trip? Will you have FSK441capability? KJ SSB only KJ, mainly HF but I have added traps so that the dipole/V array starts at 50MHz and goes each band down to 3.5. Won't be rotatable and direction will be set by tree orientations. Se...

I won't be on 23cm but hope to be on HF as VK9NU late in the day - if that helps at all - though I won't be on any band higher than 6m

Re: VK9NU - Norfolk Island
Now it is said that Norfolk attracts newly weds and nearly deads. Which group do you represent? Given that my 100+ year old mother in law lives with us, I don't consider myself yet to be in the nearly dead category. Further, given that my XYL and I have been married for over 40 years, I don't...

Re: VK9NU - Norfolk Island
Steve The IC-7000 covers 2 and 70cm as well as HF/6 but not planning on extra any feeders or antennas for those bands - the radio/tuner/PS/antenna/feeder stuff I am already taking will occupy a fair amount of my suitcase weight.. I won't take the handheld and accessories as it probably would be extr...

Re: VK9NU - Norfolk Island
It is now just over three weeks until I do my "holiday activation" on Norfolk and have sorted out most of what I am taking - but am wondering if anyone knows if the locals on Norfolk use something like 146.500 as a local liaison frequency and thus whether it would be worthwhile taking a 2M...
