Re: LoraWAN Pico balloon Mel-Syd

Hi Mark, Long time no hear! The tracker is a custom board with an ARM 0+ and SX1276, powered by one AAA lithium. Weight is around 10g. Antenna is a 915Mhz dipole. From the initial test data, we can probably use TTN SF8 for default. At that rate and small payloads the tracker should be able to remain...

Re: Mount Lilydale Mercy College balloon launch

It turned out to be a straight forward flight, they started around 8:20am and recovered the payload at around 10:30am at Enfield, just missed the Enfield State Park! Actual max altitude was 28624m. APRS tracking was good all the way down to 1559m, and they could lock in the Olivia UHF signal on the ...

Mount Lilydale Mercy College balloon launch

Hi all, Mount Lilydale Mercy College will be launching a balloon from Lake Bolac Victoria at 8am 17/10/19, with science payloads from students. This is their first launch, so it would be great if we can assist them with the tracking. They will be using APRS trackers on 145.175 (VK3HAX and VK3HAX-15)...

Thanks Rob, that looks interesting but is probably a bit on the heavy side:
Net weight 11 oz (312 g), covers 20 sq. ft. (1.9 sq. meters)

Re: PS-64 PICO balloon HF JT9 WSPR - VK9WI WIA AGM

Thank you all for tracking,

PS-64 hit a weather front this morning and went down.
PS-65 is in the air, using the same SNUS call sign, and VK9WI as WSPR call sign.

Re: PS-63 PICO balloon HF JT9 WSPR

Yes the battery would be the first to go, but we have seen the case where the payload transmits but the cold temp causes too much frequency drift to be decoded.
The higher altitude hopefully will keep the balloon out of most bad weather!
