Re: Does the Icom IC-705 Drift? Test and Results HERE!

Hi Peter, I didn't do the tests on the 7OTC video and as you've pointed out duty cycle was indeed different. All I did was a real world test like I would if I was running it normally at home and documented my findings accordingly. Still waiting on the oscillator frequency myself. Icom America says t...

Does the Icom IC-705 Drift? Test and Results HERE!

Does the Icom IC-705 drift in frequency? The results may surprise you! In this video I put that to the test with my IC-705 using WSPR. The radio was set to transmit 5W and received by my GPS locked IC-9700 at my remote station.

Re: Icom IC-705, IC-7300 and IC-9700 Waterfall Setup for Weak Signals

Lock up Peter :)

Glad to know it works on the IC7610. I'm sure there are a multitude of different settings but I found those ones the best for my eyes and pulling out any signals from the noise. I found a US station later that I could hardly hear in the speaker because of it!

Icom IC-705, IC-7300 and IC-9700 Waterfall Setup for Weak Signals

In this video, I show the waterfall display options I use on the Icom IC-705 to find weak signal stations. This not only works for the IC-705 but also the IC-7300 and IC-9700

This Radio is AMAZING! The Icom IC-705 Unboxing and First Thoughts!

Today my Icom IC-705 arrived on my doorstep. I decided to get the camera out as quick as possible as I wanted to take the radio out, but not before unboxing to see what you get. In Australia we have been privileged to be one of the first to receive the IC-705. In this video I give my first thoughts ...

Introducting the Leo Bodnar IC-9700 GPS Injection Board. This board is installed into your Icom IC-9700 and solves the issue of drift and frequency stability! Best of all NO soldering is required!

Re: Icom IC-9700 users topic

The only thing I've noticed is that some who are using FM on 23cm sound like they have speech processor on! Maybe that's it? I'll have to reflash my firmware when I go to collect my remote 9700 next visit. Nobody has mentioned to me that it sounds like that, but perhaps the audio sounds different a...

Re: Antennas for 3.4 GHz

Sorry Hil,
Didn’t really describe that properly. From the solderable bit (rear side of the flange).

I figure once the plug has mated on the connector then everything past the tip of the N male is to be included in the antenna

Re: Antennas for 3.4 GHz

Hi Hil, I measured from the middle of the N connector to the end of the probe. I ended up having to do a lot of filing as it was way too long first time

Very neat Lou. This mounted at the feed of a yagi for portable operation will work well!

Re: 2m WSPR Station

Hi Nigel, Finding a suitable receiver is an interesting one... I can't think off hand what you could use. Another issue is that because WSPR is one frequency operation, you may have your transmitter going at the same time as your receiver is and you'll have no chance of receiving anyone else. Of cou...
