Re: The future for amateur radio in VK
Times have changed for this hobby, It's populate or Perish, time to ignore the old farts, the future is with the our children, and if putting resources into making a STEM Course that means all year 8 - 10 students in NSW become a licensed Amateurs, then I'm all for it. I agree with you. If even a f...

I agree entirely, especially as the ACMA is a Gov. dept with an obligation to the public/licencees, not vice versa.VK3ALB wrote:but for the ACMA to say, "We don't have to send renewals but we do so as a courtesy" is a cop out.

Re: I wonder what ACMA plans with 56-70MHz?
I had to look it up, never having been to the UK, or used 4m, but wikipeadia tells me that the UK 4m band is not that huge. "In practice this ranges from 70 MHz to 70.5 MHz in the United Kingdom, with other countries generally having a smaller allocation within this window" You would think...

Retirement Home for Impoverished Amateurs
Here at the Retirement Home for Impoverished Amateurs we have some live Stobie Poles within the property boundaries.
Does anyone know if there are any rules or regulations about using the Stobie Pole as an antenna anchor. ????
Thanks, Richard VK5ZLR

If acma can decode the data then they have your call and no offence. If they can't decode u they don't get your call anyway.. All a bit weird actually. Well exactly, its just another area in which the regs are still in the 1950's. With the plethora of new digital modes there is no way the ACMA is g...
