The Yongnuo YN560 IV works well with my old Fuji S9500.

Thanks for the info.

Callsign versus Licence grades...

While it is clear that an individual cannot apply for a callsign which is designated for a 'higher' grade than their COP, what is not so clear is whether an individual can hold a callsign from a 'lower' grade than their COP. It seems there is no limit as how many callsigns you can have as long as yo...

Re: RF Bay LNA Designer Kits

Adam - I have just realised I have done something that I find very annoying when others do it - that is, tacking on a vaguely related question to an original post. My apologies. If you can be bothered (and have the time) could you split off the photography stuff into a separate post as the informati...

Re: RF Bay LNA Designer Kits

Most of the speedlights allow you to change the angle of the head as well as its rotation: Aha - the youtube vid I watched gave the impression that the 'azimuth' rotation bit was only +/-90 degrees and the 'elevation' rotation bit was only 0-90 degrees. Meaning you could never burn your own retinas...

Re: RF Bay LNA Designer Kits

Thanks Adam - in the past I had tried bouncing the inbuilt (forward-facing) flash towards the ceiling with a white card - but it was worse than putting the timer on with a tripod and using low light. I see the Yongnuo YN560 has a swivel head - but how you get it to point up when the camera is pointi...

Adam,

Sorry - a bit OT - but what camera and what lighting do you use to get such quality pictures ?

Re: Shock horror the Price of license fee's has changed

My two licences had expiry dates of 13th April and 15th May 2015. I had received the two invoices for $75 and had already paid this amount and the register had already new expiry dates of 12 months from the existing expiry dates as expected (13th April and 15th May 2016 ). This morning I sent the AC...

Re: How big a change is needed to stop the apathy ?

Apathy - A complete lack of emotion or motivation, whether directed towards a person, activity, or object. Commonly misused by individuals to describe the behaviour of people who are not interested in what floats THEIR boat... I have zero interest in contests, but I am not an apathetic person - I a...

Re: CQ Magazine Jan feb and march 2014

Terry, exactly! It's easy to print digital magazines, but not so practical to scan in a dead tree with 100% OCR reliability. I have a couple of plastic in-trays for my current projects (MS and radio astronomy) and I print off the few pages of something I have downloaded which are relevant...

Re: CQ Magazine Jan feb and march 2014

Interesting, but sorry, I couldn't stand watching beyond 15 minutes. That was sufficient time to understand what the real problem with CQ (and ham radio in general) is. It's an old school company driving by an old school mentality, clinging onto the past. For what it is worth (my opinion) I tend to...

Re: Source of aluminium wire...

http://badgerwire.com.au/. They have a small orders online facility. I ordered 35m of 3mm. They normally post it out, but I jumped in the car and picked it up COD. $37 for 35m. I asked for annealed (out of ignorance mainly) and found it softer than I thought it would be. No fault of BW - just my la...

Re: Source of aluminium wire...

you can get 2mm but BOC only sell it as a 6kg roll about $130 go for alloy 1080, it the closest you will get to pure aluminium in welding wire. It will probably need to be annealed as it is quite stiff and wants to stay coiled up. To anneal it you need to heat it to about 350 deg C for 1 hour (XYLs...

I have cut 4 lengths approx 10m long ready to send. If you want more let me know I have heaps here.
Thanks - but as I stated - I need 2mm.

I am guessing they don't come in 30m lengths... 4 times 8m would do though.
