Re: FT8 6m DX
The reason for my previous post was to show that there was 10 openings to various areas during the bottom of the cycle. This information is provided to assist other amateurs who may be interested in the new FT8 digital mode and what signal levels to expect. The positive numbers are a result of using...

I used to think that 103 was the magic sunspot number to work EU on six.....wrong.
Worked a lot of EU and also Sth America last year and the sunspot numbers were no where near that.
Keep experimenting guys...after all, it's only science

Just give us a slice of 40mhz and we can all move there and work DXCC in 6 months and then sit around talking about the good old days on six

Re: IC-7300 - Software Defined Radio
Looks like the IC7300 will sell faster than a load of 'hot cakes' at the sunday markets.... I honestly didn't think it would go that low. My best guess was around $1,950 - $2150 a few weeks ago. At $1,795...i wonder if Ross can keep up with the orders  and it will shut those 'parallel' ...

It's good to hear that the IC7300 is being retailed by Ross at a 'sensible' price. Those deposits have been payed and i am sure there will be some pleased receipients next month

Re: Dick Smith Electronics in administration
Fond memories of visiting Dick Smith stores in VK2, VK3, VK4 & VK8 over the years 74' to early 90's. Tongue hanging out and saliva dripping from the corner whilst staring at all the 'radio gear' Only place really left is Ross's place in Vic. Ain't going near that parallel importer in N...

IC-7300 - Software Defined Radio
Started a topic as this radio is almost due for release in Australia. I know that some out there are 'chomping at the bit' to get their hands on one...and at 1st glance it does present well, but..... ic7300.jpg my reasons for not choosing one are: a. It is a small radio with a 4" screen (too sm...

Re: VK4 Tower Regs
reminds me of a CBer in Townsville many years ago. Re: VK4 Tower Regs
Put an Australian flag at the top :D Then you can refer the complaint back to them saying 'this is Australia mate' and it's a Fancy Flag Pole  My towers in Qld took about 6 months to get 'approved' (probably because there were 4 of them 120ft high). My tower in NT took 2 years but finally got t...

Thanks Wayne. I had the pleasure of meeting Evelyn in the early 90's. She was very dedicated to radio and will be sadly missed.
