Re: MAD - Sunday March 24, 2019
Some disappointing comments above. Here in VK3, I found the VK5s went out of their way to make contacts with as many stations as they could and to help others to work them. VK5ZD/P was most helpful in assisting me to set up contacts with VK5KK/P. Only here to 'break records'? - I don't think so. I d...

Re: BV-Mast. (Portable mast fundraiser project)
The portable mast looks great. I use a similar setup for FD activity. However, I found that clamping antennas to the top section can sometimes distort the shape of the aluminium tubing thus affecting its ability to telescope all the way down for transport. To overcome this, I now carry a separate sh...

Re: VK3 Microwave Activity Day
This is a reminder about the VK3 microwave activity day this coming Sunday 28th August - from 10:00am to Noon AEST. Activity will be centred on 3398.100MHz. This is a great opportunity for those who haven't had a chance to field test their GARC 3.5GHz panels. Liaison, if needed: VK3RGL repeater 147....

Re: Solar Cycle 25...how old will u be?
This thread reminds me of Sid Bryant, VK3CI (SK) from Nagambie who was a keen six metre operator. Year after year, Sid was heard to say 'this will probably be my last Sporadic E season' . Sid's annual prediction eventually came through and his familiar voice disappeared from the six metre band. Gavi...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver
Thanks Tim....your 'prescription' was spot on. The lower 1M resistor of the voltage divider was open circuit. I guess I damaged it when moving it as per the GARC modifications. I now have a healthy looking 30.55dBm tx output.VK5ZT wrote: Hope this helps....

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver
As for the Tx switching..... The low dropout 5V regulator supplies power to the comparator IC. Note that +5 is on Pin 7, output is pin 6 which is LOW for TX. Pin 3 should be around 2.5 V and pin 2 around zero until DC is applied via the resistor. When pin 2 volts exceeds pin 3 the output goes low. ...

Hi Ho Roger
Congratulations to all involved. Andrew VK3OE's posting says it all. WIA members (and bloody non members) are indeed fortunate to have representation of such a high calibre.

Re: Video: Analogue panel meter basics
Hey Steve You're not that old! BOCP No.V9 would have been the 9th certificate issued by the Victorian office of the then PMG R&L Section. There were several hundred BOCPs issued by the Department's Central Office (with a different numbering sequence) before the issue of the various certificates ...

Re: What are people using for computer logging on VHF contes
Lou Thanks for your help with my query. I've been keeping a paper log for more than 50 years - not quite back to the quill and parchment era but a long time nonetheless. I've no real incentive to change but I have been using VKCL for FD entries recently because it seems paper logs are no longer appr...

Re: What are people using for computer logging on VHF contes
I am using VKCL in the Post-Contest Entry Mode for my Spring Field Day Log. In the heat of the FD action, I inadvertently issued serial numbers 058 and 059 twice, that is my good old reliable hand written log shows that I gave out numbers 057 058 059 058 059 060 and so on.....I plead temporary insan...
