Re: VHF/UHF Field Day scoring.
Whilst FD activity is actually on the increase under the existing system, there is no doubt that many stations are at a disadvantage because of their location and/or the lack of activity in adjacent grid squares. I suggest running a trial with grid square and distance scoring in parallel. If we were...

Re: Fring area TV antennas (Hills CA 16)
Hi Peter
There are 8 reflectors on a CA16 behind 8 end fed driven half wave elements (not 4 reflectors 4 dipoles). That is why the elements are not 'bridged'.

Re: Fring area TV antennas (Hills CA 16)
Hi Peter
There are no bridging straps. The CA16 has 8 end fed driven half wave elements arranged in pairs, fed in phase and backed up by 8 reflectors.

Re: The Summer Field Day thread 2010
VK3HY/P will operate for the first eight hours from Mt Matlock QF32cj 1370m ASL. If the WX looks bad, rather than risk getting a wet bottom and no contacts, I will move to a sheltered position a little lower down in the Matlock township. All bands 50MHz to 1296MHz.

Re: Where will you be for the VHF UHF Spring Field Day?
I am planning to end my long winter hibernation period by operating in the Spring FD from usual spot at Mt Terrible, QF32bo. Wx permitting, will operate for 24 hours, otherwise 8 hours might be enough. Will operate SSB CW & even FM. 50MHz 100W, halo 144MHz 100W 7 element Yagi 432MHz 75W, 18 elem...

50.200MHz Domestic Calling
Glenn 4TZL is spot on. Multiple call frequencies don't work. No need for long calls on 50.110MHz - a brief call - establish contact and QSY well away from 50.110MHz. Forget the six metre Police. Constant listening to white noise has affected their thinking!
