Re: VK7RAE Beacons
Hello All, Would it be possible while the beacons are down to review the use of crossed dipoles on otherwise a good beacons. I am not sure of the exact configuration but if just a single crossed dipole on 2 meter then I believe most of the power being radiated is lost to space as in a double donut p...

WSJT-X MSK 144 Meteor Scatter
Hello All, I am perplexed. Why does meteor scatter works best between about 5AM - 7:30AM DST. Why does it seem to be enhanced only between these times and best results on 6 meters usually. A few possibilities come to mind. Operators are not willing to get up earlier and usually they quit to go off t...

Re: Another missed opportunity
Be careful with exotic DX 6m contacts that the radio may have been on HF and the software still on 6meters so look for others at the same time.
But if real - congrats on flagging a goodie.

Re: Where to point fixed 2/70 beam
Hi Adrian, 2 meters 7 elements regular DX, unfortunately your antenna is too small. With a preamp, mount another the same and you will do ok. But remember what you see on VKLOGGER display is not all that goes on. Too few people post spots to the web page. Look for VK1BG 144.200 8-9am horizontal ever...

Re: Please Mr ICOM I would like a IC-910 replacement
Agree - but don't forget the GPS internal locking with GPS readout and a 10MHz ref output for other equipment in the shack and please include video output like IC-7000.
Why not give us an IF in and OUT on 2.4 and 10Ghz too.
You wanna sell radios Mr ICOM?

Re: PS-60 PICO balloon APRS Olivia
Of course the problem with APRS and /or UHF means that it may only be seen over the continent where APRS may be received. But the third option is UHF and WSPR/JT9 to know where it is most of the time. And APRS good for up and down flights but problematical due FEW APRS stations can receive that APRS...

Re: PS-60 PICO balloon APRS Olivia
PS-60 close by and decoding most Olivia data with good checksum but only those with Lat data included seem to be used by HABHUB tracking.

Re: PS-60 PICO balloon APRS Olivia
PS-60 is missing the Lat number again consequently the uploads do not seem to appear in the HABHUB tracking data. Secondly the DL-FLDIGI does not fill the line of parameters above the green decode line however it says the checksum is good and I now have corrected the upload problem I was having with...

Re: strange screen shot
Looks like 2500Hz on spectrum and judging from your location just out of Tullamarine and the actual Rx frequency (bcn/2m/6m/rptr)
possibly several planes lined up giving multiple doppler shifts approaching and departing your QTH otherwise its Aliens.

Re: Mixing VK & Dx calls on 50.110 is not working
Hello VK4's, I think you see the problem of calling CQ on 50.110 from your point of view. Have a look at it from the point of view from us guys down south. Everybody is listening on 50.110 so no amount of calling by us on any other frequency is pointless and it would be nice for us to have a 6m DX c...

Re: PS-55 PICO balloon HF JT9 WSPR
Hello Andy, Wonder if you have had a look at what happens when one is deliberately dropped in the water. Is the surface tension so great that it would never make it out again and is there anything that can be done to facilitate it getting back up. Maybe polystyrene floaties stuck to the appropriate ...

Re: PS-54 PICO balloon APRS Olivia San Jose USA
Is PS-54 still flying?
I guess the real problem is that only about 96% (if that) of the world is covered by APRS or 434Mhz so a combination HF WSPR system would be preferred for full tracking coverage or something using ISS or spacecraft relay would be good.
