I note the brochure claims all new PA stages but they still produce 75 watts 70cm and 10 watts on 23cm.
Would love to have seen 100+ watts on 70cm and maybe 50 watts on 23cm so I guess I'll stick with my IC9100.

Re: VHF-UHF-SHF-EHF Contest news
This will be a rather somber contest as ZL2ADU won't be an active participant .
I will be at my ZL2FAE/p location running horizontal polarisation SSB on 50.150, 144.2, 432.2 & 1296.2.

Re: ZL VHF Field Day Contest - this weekend
Bob True there needs to be some rule rework or clarification for contests. Evidently ZL2ADU made a legit eme in The Feb contest so it must be possible with the right software. Anyway I hope all had a good time and are not suffering from exposure etc unlike me after a night of Woodstocks at The Winch...

Maybe we need the min freq clauses on all bands. That would then rule out Eme?

Re: Preamp position on 2M terrestrial paths...
Please excuse my ignorance but I thought that 25mt run of of RG213 had a loss of approx 2.5db at 2Mt. When you add that to say a 1db NF preamp at the rig that means you add the two figures together to get the effective preamp/coax Noise figure which would be 3.5db (add relay and connector losses of ...

Ron VK4DD has dissapeared into the ether!.
I purchaced one of the helianic boards a few years ago after being led down by VK4DD and found it unsatable also.
Unfortunetely the item took so long to get to me I was unable to post feedback when it arrived. Ebay refused to help.

Re: 50 MHZ PAs going to EWASTE
Guys Make the most of it. Here in NZ the $%#@'s would not let anyone have them, claimed they were toxic and contained Berillum so thay had to be disposed of safely. What a load of coblers! NZ has become so rigid and risk averse it's a joke. Well a lot of my gear had Berillum in it.... I am from the ...

Re: Distance Based Scoring
Would you like it repeated every two months? In ZL we went from Summer only contests to every two months and it's pretty daunting keeping that schedule up. The winter months are very quiet for contests here. In fact because there are so many VHF/UHF contests we have a poor turnout. Basically I can ...

Re: High Isolation Relays for 23cm
My method is a little agricultural but it works for me. Loss. I use a power meter (or calibrated SWR meter) much like you do when measuring cable loss but do it at the highest frequency you have measuring (and signal generation) equipment, that way you can measure the small losses easier. Terminate ...

Re: Yaesu FT-857 install into Landcruiser 200 Series
Let me know how you get on. I had a problem fitting a xciever to the LC100 and it's due for change and it's hard to move away from them. It's funny how there is no spare space on matter how big the vehicle is! The 100 had a bay (if one removed the 6 stack CD) that was DIN but I was not alowed to rem...

Re: Pre amp advise
One way is to use one good relay (or two*) at the Ant and two feeders (the preamp return casn be slightly more lossy than the TX) and a smaller relay in the shack diverting RX before the power amp. (AKS Between preamp and power amp) * One way of cutting costs is to use a high power, low loss but not...

Re: Pre amp advise
All good questions Owen and I look forward to reading the various opinions of those here. Also need to consider what the prevaling local signals are like. E.G. are there lots of high powered locals as well as the elusive DX or are you in an area that is miles from know where. I use different preamp...

Well you have my vote. I think your kits brought affordable transverters to us all and that’s got to be good for fostering interest in microwave bands. It's a shame I did not have enough spare cash at the time to get the last of your 10ghz kits before you went to the version with fully assembled boa...

From AMSAT.
"The Eagle project has been terminated by the AMSAT Board because no affordable launch opportunity could be found and ITAR regulations made it almost impossible to work with our international AMSAT partners on this ambitious project. "

Yes
Very for me anyway.
1 second of bad SWR on 6 and my FT897 now just clicks the relays randomly when I put the power on arggghhhh.

Mike if you are within 50k's of an active channel 1 you WON'T get a permit until it shuts down. So because Wellington goes quiet we are ok.
