Re: VK2EI SK
Very sad to hear of Neil's passing I worked with Neil in the NZPO Radio section about 50 years ago. We also visited with Neil and Verena several years ago at his QTH in Port McQuarrie. He was a very nice person and a great microwave enthusiast. He will be missed.

Thales 23 / 26 GHz Transceivers
I have just tested my 26 GHz unit on Rx. By using a 11736 MHz Kuhne oscillator, which I borrowed from my 47 GHz rig, the unit is now giving a 576 MHz IF output. It really comes alive when I adjust the -12 volt rail down to -6.5 volts. The sensitivity compares with my 24 GHz Kuhne Transverter. This c...

Re: 2.4GHz - What Freq?
The preferred frequency for transtasman contacts is 2400.100 because of lower noise levels however i will have 2403 and 2424
I will be operating from Muriwai on west coast 50km from Auckland when conditions look possible in next few weeks.

Re: 2.4Ghz Transverter
Hi all
I have just completed a 2.4ghz vk5eme transverter with a 432 IF and its working great.I had my first contact in last weekends contest on 2400.100 where the ISM noise is much lower here in Auckland city compared. to our call channel of 2424 .

Re: Should we move to 2.3GHz?
Hi microwave dxers It would seem that a vk zl contact is most likely to happen on 2403 or 2424 between stations at altitude or hilltopping where ISM noise is less and you can access the long awaited transtasman duct. This season has had very little tropo to many easterly winds that dont create big du...

Re: 2.4GHz - What Freq?
In ZL the 13 cm band is between 2396 MHz to 2450 MHz with most of the activity on 2424 MHz. This was okay until more recent times when the interference problems from telephone equipment etc. became excessive in suburban areas. (Not so bad from field day sites fortunately). From experience, and liste...
