Re: 23 on 23 Monday 23 September 2019

Very interesting - where does the contact line that goes westward off the left hand end of the map end up? Does it go as far as Bathurst? Where was the other end of that QSO?

Re: What's on your Workbench?

This weekend I opened up a brand new desoldering station that was a gift from another HAM. The board I am repairing is a FPGA debug board that I want to use for some development and testing work. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181118/55cfb67f372ad624dd0672e5b0a6a7d5.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-...

Sydney 70cm repeaters at GPT

Well, almost. At the time the quoted post was made, in 2015, the information was correct. VK2RHP consists of two repeaters, one DMR and one P25. The analog frequency for VK2RHP has since been converted to a Brandmeister linked DMR repeater after the analog network was decommissioned. I recently alig...

Homebrew P25 SDR Transmitter

Hi Guys, Just thought I would share a small project I have been tinkering with for a while now. It is an experimental, open source P25 SDR based transceiver. For the software stack, I am using linux, with GNURadio and the free and open OP25 project. The hardware is an Ettus Research USRP as an excit...

Re: APRS Tracking the much overlooked safety web

G'day VK3ZAZ, A few years back I tested out my TinyTrak 4 in a Pitts Special S2B (VH-TKV) while putting it through it's paces with an aerobatic routine. While it tracked properly straight and level, the aerobatics confused the hell out of the GPS and APRS engines. Since then I haven't had a chance t...

Re: Aligning a Rotator

Suddenly my interest in satellites has been re-kindled...!

What is there to work these days? I recall 10 years ago, AO-51(?) was hammering away and was all the rage..

Also, are there many non- HAM satellites that can be tracked for anything of interest?

Re: VK3RCD Kinglake P25 repeater

ACMA client ID was only ever a suggestion, and it's not the best solution. ACMA newer client IDs have more digits than a P25 RID field permits, which leads to non- unique IDs. DMR IDs are unique, geographically referenced and allocated as needed. It solves all the issues with using a client ID. Of c...

Hi Dave, I have been interested in these devices for a while now, but I am curious as to why people prefer the USB version as opposed to the ethernet version..

Re: Success! P25 international linked repeater system

Hi Guys, Last night I was using the VK2RHP repeater at Horsely Park to chat on the P25 linked system. F1SHS has now added a P25 repeater in Paris, France, and I had a nice QSO with him, a HAM in Germany, and KH6MP in Hawaii. All in superb digital audio.. Hope to hear more users on here soon! Cheers,...

What's on your Workbench?

Ok got there in the end. Altronics had a crimper that was the right price. I've used a thunderbolt display from VK4GHZ, a chinese power supply, Jaycar housing, and VK3XDK 10MHz distribution amp. I'm very happy with the end result! Note - the tape inside is to hold spare wires for power and data when...

Sounds like the Labor governments' wet dream has been realised - billions of tax payers dollars going straight to a bunch of numbskull installers who have no clue about the technology they are installing.

Re: What's on your Workbench?

One more question out there for the Thunderbolt guys, what type of crimper is required to crimp the pins on the power connector? The only reference I can find online is to the official Molex crimper which Mouser retails for $300USD!!!!!

Cheers,
Matt
