Re: Cobweb antennas

Check out NBS Antennas, I am sure I have seen a hub on his web site for a hex.

Re: Cobweb antennas

Hi Terry Value for money against performance the Hex Beam is hard to beat. I have heard and worked so many of these on air I am more than impressed. Plus you don't need a huge rotator which cuts down the cost. I know what I would have if only I had the space. But things being as they are I am more t...

Re: Cobweb antennas

For those interested here are my comments on the G3TPW version of the Cobwebb Antenna. I have been using mine since May 2013 and have had good results with it. Yes its not a beam but you have the advantage of it being horizontal for less noise pickup than a vertical and its omni directional so there...

Re: Tak-tenna - Opinions and additional suggestions

I have a yard space of 3.5 x 7.3 meters and the G3TPW Cobwebb fits in fine and works a treat. There is no feed line radiation as the antenna has an rf choke in the termination box. It is possible to make your own as you can make it as cheap as you like. Likewise there are quite a few sites on web th...

If this is a recent install even the winches do not conform to current standard from Nally.
Seems like a lot of planning went into this job. ?

Re: EchoMac - new Version released

Tried this new version but sadly it constantly crashed and was unusable.
Seems the developers are looking for people that can debug the software, sadly I can't.
So in the mean time I have gone back to the previous version for the time being.

Well done Brenton Its videos like this that just might get somebody interested in amateur radio. I wouldn't worry about your comments, seemed all ok to me but then again I am one of those radio eccentrics I guess...LOL Amateur radio is meant to be enjoyed and we all have our own ways of doing it. Re: Icom IC-718

I use a TS440S here and I find the internal speaker very average to listen to. Definitely the best option is a Heil headset, yes I know they are not cheap, but are well worth the investment. Have had mine now for almost 12 months and its a pleasure to work DX plus you don't have the problem of room ...

Re: Logging Software for Mac (Newbie question)

Hi Erwin Ihave looked at Yealog, but it seems to lack a few features I was looking for. Its a simple layout but I just wasn't convinced it was what I wanted. I then looked at Aether, this I find for its price is quite good. Using an older transceiver here at the moment so having date or control of t...

Re: Motorised extendable HF vertical

Hi Bruce I looked at a SteppIR here but wanted to avoid verticals as much as possible after my previous experiences with them. Currently I am using a G3TPW Cobwebb antenna and its working fine. My lot here is a unit so I don't have much room to play hf antennas at all and I have found the Cobwebb ju...

Re: Smart meter QRM

You have almost determined that the interference in your house. I also suspected a smart meter here too, but it turned to be the Optus cable CAU box out the front of my house and yes it was close to the smart meter too. Is it possible that you might have led lighting or some charger or solar inverte...

Went to Radio Specialists in Adelaide.
Brian was very helpful indeed.
Also ordered a crimper as well.
Have a look at Adam's post in this thread for web site details.

9913 Coax

Looking for a supplieer of N connectors for 9913 coax.
These require a larger center pin.
Tried my last source and no longer available.
Even the local manufacturer no longer makes them due so low demand.
Woud prefer a local source but may be forced to look overseas or change cable type.

No you don't.
But at least its resonant which is better than a random wire.

Re: Bending the elements on a tri-band yagi

My QTH is somewhat small for most HF antennas but there are solutions out there. You just have to think outside the square and do the research. I almost gave up hope of HF here but eventually came up with the G3TPW Cobwebb antenna, while not a beam its probably going to be my best hope of a decent a...

Re: HF interference

I used a portable shortwave radio as a "sniffer", worked well. Started here in the shack and just kept on going until I found the offending interference getting louder. My original thought it might be a "smart meter", lucky it wasn't I guess. You are right though, there is just &...
