Re: Switched LNA
Hi Graham an Rex (an the others of course!),
give a look at this AN by minicircuits: http://www.minicircuits.com/app/AN60-064.pdf
many guys here in Italy and in France have reported failures of the PGAs due to their instability at "lower" frequencies.

how can I measure it???
Thanks in advance

Re: Pre amp isolation
I don't know that SSB device...
BTW I remember I used a 1/4 lambda piece of coax cable (actually 1/4 lambda x VF of the coaxial cable) and 2 back-to-back diodes to replace relays in my VHF FM PA.

Re: Pre amp isolation
you can also try the "front-end protection device" described by K3PGP in 1977... http://www.k3pgp.org/432filter.htm : its isolation is said to be around 40dB. it can be scaled for other frequencies as well. it must be installed between the antenna change-over relay and the preamplifier. i2...

ty!
it looks really very interesting and, if I am not wrong, that B100 can work with a TX daughterboard.
but I am afraid it's too complicated for me!
the website is meant for professionals and not simple hams like me!!! hahaha

Yes Adrian, but don't forget to add shipping charges and insurance: 85$ (US to Italy) plus custom duties...and moreover they can refuse to sell to me directly as they have a European representative.

Re: IEEE 488/GPIB
Thanks Adam for the info! Actually I was already considering the Prologix interface not only because it is very convenient (USB connection) but also because, at the end, can be even cheaper than a card and cable, according to the prices I found on e-bay! I thought those old fashion equipment were ch...

IEEE 488/GPIB
I have just bought an old HP 8569 Spectrum Analyzer which is equipped with an IEEE 488/GPIB interface. I would like to interface it to my PC to acquire the images, so I am looking for a freeware "Plotter Emulator" software or a cheap share-ware one: the SA has already drained my "liqu...

Tnx Adam!
Well mine is a 134-23. I wanted to use it as the reference OCXO for my portable 5.7 GHz transverter...but I am a little bit concerned now!!! In fact I am going to carry it up to the hills in my car...which is not exactly a Rolls Royce!!! hahaha

How do you solder 0805 SMD components?
I have just a limited experience in soldering SMD comp. I managed with my old Weller (WECP 50 Watts) to solder 1206 comps...but those 0805... I went downtown to a Weller dealer shop and discovered that my tip is the smallest available for that model. Smaller tips come with new models whose prices ar...
