...so it suggests that whisting the K is less effective. My feeling is that it is so much less effective as to be of doubtful benefit. Personally, I would discourage whistled Ks. Amen. Having to listen to inane whistles makes me want to turn the rigs off. Even funnier when an operator says "da...

Re: Mast recommendations
I would go for 50mm tubing, with a wall of at least 3mm.
At my previous house in Melbourne, I had a Diamond X-500 mounted on a 6m length of 50mm mounted on the chimney, freestanding, no guys.

You could purchase a Yaesu rig!!!
Seriously, do you want something to hang on the wall, or a PC application to generate your own?

Re: Where to get Jones plug for Kenpro rotator?
Thanks Matt, Phil & Gavin (who emailed).
Wanting to finish off the job ASAP, I decided to remove the Jones socket and fit a plain vanilla terminal block on the rear instead.
Not as convenient as a plug/socket, but does the job.

Where to get Jones plug for Kenpro KR-1000S rotator?
Hi
Just wondering where I might purchase a 6 pin male connector to suit a Kenpro KR-1000S controller?
I have already looked in the Jaycar and RS catalogue and they don't stock them.
Any ideas?

Re: Standard Licencees - gateway for 52MHz
...and it seems to me there is total confusion over the 52MHz calling frequency and it could be a chance to clarify the position and we all know how often 50.200MHz is used. That was my point Brian... (I'm not sure I conveyed it well, though). Another set of calling freqs might introduce even more ...

Re: Standard Licencees - gateway for 52MHz
I think we should try and encourage the standard licencees to maintain their interest in 6m and hopefully encourage them to obtain their full calls so that they can come down to 50MHz. Brian, absolutely. On the other side of the coin, there must always be an incentive to upgrade. I wonder whether w...

Re: TV station listings
John, Mike is spot on. There are literally hundreds of these "TV & Frequency Lists" to be found on the internet. No matter how impressive they may look, most of these lists are out of date, and simply contain wrong information. (Unless it is very general information) With the advent of...

Re: 6m Beam on Triband yagi
When spacing antennas, you base the separation on the lowest freq antenna, and in your case, the tribander. As a bare minimum you would space at least 1/4 wavelength away, but I would suggest the minimum separation would be half of the tri-bander boom length. (Of course, at 6M, this separation is el...

Dropping like flies. The shutdown of Bantiger TV transmitter (finally allowing a large portion of Swiss Hams to operate on Six) will be celebrated by HB9BE group using the special call HE9M from November 30th to December 2nd, by using the towers antennas to work on Six QRO. Check the follwing websit...

Hi SIXers, I'm happy to announce, that TV stations Grünten (JN57) 48260,4 kHz and Bantiger (JN36) 48250,0 kHz went QRT. For us in the southern part of DL, West-OE and most of HB9 two major sources of permanent inband video are gone. This opens up a completely new world into those directions which ...

Re: V/UHF Pre-amps
My thinking was, preamps are only useful in overcoming any transmission line losses. There is little point in having more signal + noise... apart from looking more impressive on the guess-meter. It's the S/N ratio you want to improve. If you are running a modest length of heliax (and if not, why not...
