Re: VK4RTT - on soak test
The Brisbane 6 m and 2 m beacons are back on air for an extended soak test at my house, QG62mo. The box was removed from the Mt Cootha location for some diagnosis and improvements. Added is a new GPS antenna, remote control and some more hardening. I’d appreciate some reports here, vkspotter.com or...

Re: Should You Buy an Icom IC-705?
With the Icom IC-705 being a hot topic at the moment I ask the question, should you buy one? Why would you be interested in getting this newest radio from Icom? I'm going to provide you with the reasons why I chose to purchase the IC-705 and whether you should or not. http://www.hamradiodx.net/shou...

Re: Announcement: SE VK4 MAD – August 23, 2020
Have we made an official start time for this MAD. It seems we are good at agreeing to a date but never a starting time. The earliest I can be on site at Howells Knob is 11am but I don't want to be up there all day so please can we make an official start time so we can plan our travel times. Robert ...

I'll see whether I can get the 47 GHz gear ready given Doug is LOS from Maleny to Kamuran.

Re: Brisbane SEQ MAD Sunday 24 May 2020
I’ll give the black hole Blackbutt another go. There is a clearing above the road right on the escarpment looking South that _should_ be good for Kamuran and Gus Beutel. Past experience wasn’t good. I am tending towards dodgy gear last time rather than a bad spot. QG63cd is the locator. Sent from my...

Re: What's on your Workbench?
Nice 10Ghz kit Peter. How big is that dish ? How much power are you going to feed it with? cheers Tim Gidday Tim, Thanks, just a tad bigger than the 122GHz kit I am looking forward to :-). 1 metre diameter dish, planning on 60 W, but, the exchange rate is making DB6NT devices much more expensive th...

Re: What's on your Workbench?
10 GHz EME setup progressing. Determined the focal point using W1GHZ HDLANT software. Theoretical 37 dBi of dish gain and 16 dBi feed gain, estimated efficiency of 57%. The dish looks like it is oblong shaped like you’d expect of an offset, but it ain’t, it’s circular .... The existing side braces g...

Re: 5.7 GHz transverter - finished (finally)
Peter, Looking at your pictures, it appears that you are using about 4 metres of blue jacket RG402 for the TX feed line. Is that correct? Have you considered the loss in that length of cable on the 10watts from the amplifier? Cheers Peter VK3QI 2 metre lengths and yes understand there is some loss ...
