Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Hi, it seems that 40m isn't the only band these people have invaded. I did a little listening between 10 and 12 MHz last night and found the same type of chanting on various frequencies between the two above. I also recorded some chanting on 11425 kHz which is attached (only a minute or so - short r...

Re: Possible Balloon Launch 26th May 11:30AM - Willunga, SA
Well done Mark. Last decode (RTTY) here was at 7475m with the balloon on the way down around 160km ESE of Adelaide. Signal lost shortly after. Used a dual band (2m/70cm) vertical colinear antenna about 6m agl into an Icom R7000 receiver. $$$$$VK5ARG-1,884,05209:03,-35.643561,140.098892,7475,0,10,184...

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Here is a screenshot taken during a geomagnetic storm of a WSPR signal from VK7VF on the 10th of January.
Both signals (VK7DIK and VK7VF close together at 1158) are normal but at 1214 and 1218 VK7VF's signal got
frequency shifted.

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Hi,
here is a screen shot of an aircraft reflection on VK5KC's signal on 6m wspr.
Also visible (just) is VK5BC/p from Corny Point.
The aircraft in question was a police helicopter doing a search to the north
and north east of my qth. Yagi was beaming to VK4 (north east) at the time.

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Hi Leigh,
yes, a lot of aircraft reflections from air traffic to my West (Gulf St. Vincent).
I also get reflections from aircraft to the East at times.
The joys of living close to an airport
Cheers Leigh.

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Hi, here are some screen shots of a wspr signal from Brian VK5BC taken Thursday 27-11-14. The station (at the time) here comprises of a 5 element yagi approximately 4 metres agl into an IC-7000. I was beaming directly East and Brian was at his station at Corny point on the York peninsula (West of Ad...

I also noticed some scattering on local 2m wspr signals this morning Leigh.
In the display there is also a strange signal - not sure what it is !?
Cheers.

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Hi all,
here is a screen capture of a possible aircraft doppler wspr signal from VK5LA.
The reason I suspect it is from VK5LA is that Leigh VK2KRR decoded his signal
at the time (too much doppler for wspr to decode here).

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
G'day Leigh, I think John was beaming VK6 when the scattering was evident. G'Day Glenn, In my own case, bearing in mind that I am in the "burbs and suffer with all sorts of noises, I set the filter on the IC-7000 at 1200 Hz for WSPR operation and use that on all bands. If you are away from subu...

Re: VHF/UHF WSPR Waterfall images
Some scattering occurred on 6m WSPR signals today. The interesting one was a local
signal by VK5SIX which suffered some scattering then returned to normal fairly quickly
as the screen capture below shows.

Re: WSPR 160m
Hi all, This may be an interest to Leigh VK2KRR. Propagation on 160m tonight has been very poor, lots of noise (constant) up to S9+10dB on the guess meter  . The screen captures below show some of the noise (possibly sun/ionospheric disturbance) I got and the effect it had on signal levels. Th...

Hi Leigh,
thought you might like to see what I see at this end on 2m wspr.
Problem is I live close to Adelaide airport hence all the crazy AE
especially on VK5KK's signal (flightpaths are between his station and mine).
Cheers.

The signals seen on these are received on a vertical dual band colinear antenna EG: nothing fancy.

Re: Choices for a broad band VHF UHF receiver
G'day Peter, I find it surprising that you find the IC-R7100 deaf and that you need to use a preamp. I have the slightly older IC-R7000 (specs are similar) and it has a hot receiver. Its AM airband performance is fantastic as long as you have a decent external speaker and a reasonable antenna. It wi...

Re: WSPR 50 MHz
G'day all,
Sorry all, it was indeed a mistake on my part
Those stations as listed on 6m were not, they were stations on 40m.
That's what I got for doing too many things at once
Again, apologies to all.
Rob.
