Re: Echolink and IRLP
We have both in our area, with Echolink on the local 2m repeater, it tends to get used by club members away on trips keeping in touch with locals, or members out of range of the local repeater able to listen to the Sunday broadcast and call back.

I use HF commercialy at work and find the Roger beep very handy in poor signal conditions often heard when voice is gone altogether but even when signals are good it's at such a level not to be annoying. Most Amatuer repeater controllers feature a Roger beep to indicate the end of transmission, stop...

Working well, have an R8500 running at work on a vertical, and the beacon has been coming and going all day long since you fired it up.

Sunraysia Amateur Radio group will be involved with JOTA as usual on Hf and available on Echolink (VK3JUG-R) which comes out on the 2m Mildura repeater, plus IRLP which comes out on our 70cm repeater at Merbein. Give us a call over the weekend.

With the change in duty cycle to continuous Tx on the new beacon, and more to come, we have already noticed an increase in our power bill and being a small club we need to watch our pennies. i was thinking of installing a switch to disable the beacons overnight either by time clock or sunset/sunrise...
