Negotiation on R2 is probably the best solution.

Re: MRF-421 on 6M
Thanks for your reply Mark. I asked the question because other hf transistors like the mrf454 work well at 50 MHz but are only characterised up to 30 MHz. I just want an easy booster for a 5w sdr and have an old codan PA board that might be worth playing with if the finals MRF-421's will pump up to ...

MRF-421 on 6M
Morning all,
Has anyone had success using MRF-421 on 50 MHz?
Tnx in anticipation.

How about HALF DXCC for DOWN UNDER on 6 mtrs
Compared to the other bands; VK and ZL show very poorly in 6 mtr DXCC performance. Our position in terms of the geomagnetic equator and the distribution of entities in our vacinity determine this. We definitely do suffer a distinct disadvantage, there are less than 8 DXCC in VK and I beleive ,none in...

Re: Is genuine LMR400 solderable braid?
Rob, If you want some solderable RG-11 , Rockby has some.
It was on special@ $12.00/10m 2 weeks ago.I purchased some and it is real copper braid. Hard to find these days at a reasonable cost.

Re: Jan 2013 storm damage SE Qld
I had a very similar failure occur on my antena array. 3 xM2 antennae (6m7jhv,2m 5WL,70cm 9WL) all ended smashed on the ground. The failure point was the bottom pair of support brackets. A strong rotator cage with thrust bearing was connected via the above brackets to a38 mm pipe section. The pipe s...

Re: Homebrew SDR
Thanks for your post Brenton, I enjoyed reading your paper. I have been playing with SDR for the last 3 years and have found it really exciting. I have used a flex 3000 for the last 2 years with great results. Converted my IC7400 to a SDR IF and last week moved on to a QS1R DDC rx/tx SDR is definite...

Re: 6m in Russia?
In The past there have been authorised "propogation tests" from Russia on 6M. I have a card here from UZ0CWW,20 April 07:35 1992. It was promoted by the Khabarovsk Railway College in association with the Frendship Amateur Radio Society of Khabarovsk. They ran 2 stations, the one above and R...

Re: Phasing 2 antennas on 2 towers
Many Thanks for all the comments.I have been given "much food for thought". Bob, ZL1RS, At present the single 7JHV is mounted 3.5 m above the tower on a 50mm,3mm walled Al tube. I'm located on the coastal windward side at 250 m ASL 25 km from the coast, with a coastal exposure(SE).That 31 F...

Phasing 2 antennas on 2 towers
At present I have 2 x 14m towers,a 4 section Hills ,divided in 2 spaced 20m apart. One tower carries a 30 yr old 5 el 6m yagi,The other a 6m7jhv. I would like to stack a pair of 6m7jkv's on one tower but this is mechanically out of the question. What opinions are out there regarding placing a 6m7jhv...

Re: Another Massive 144MHz Es Opening.
The opening looked great on the logger. Here in VK4 action was lite.
I copied ZL3OC at 00:48 working VK4OX. I copied ZL3OC at 5X2,Called after Adrian, OO:49 and the
path had closed.
It was at least encouraging to copy my first ZL from this QTH on 2m.
Good DX, Chris.

Re: Massive 144MHz Es Opening
Yesterdays opening was the first multi-state; country, opening I have experienced on 2M. It was a thrilling occurence. I worked 18 stations in VK3,starting at 01:43 . At 02:42 Found FK8IA and FK8ET talking on fm;Had contacts with Pascal on ssb and fm,contact with Michel on fm only. Went and had lunc...

Re: Power Splitting/Combining
The amount of energy leaving the antennas is equal in both cases. It is just that in the" perfectly stacked situation", the amount
directed into a specific direction is increased by 3dB.So we think we are getting some thing for nothing.
Cheers,Chris.

Re: How do you solder 0805 SMD components?
I use a "toaster oven" for single sided boards.Cheap-$20-30 from most supermarkets. Place solder paste using a toothpick on each pad, place components as you go. Put board in centre of oven.Place temp probe of digital multimeter on edge of board. Turn oven on until temp gets to 110-120.Tur...

Modification to AM-17 for 70 cm
Has anyone modified an AM-17 for 70cm ? It is relatively" easy" to get 400W on 2m solid state. This does not seem the case on 70cm.I've got an AM-17 not needed for 2m,has anyone done it? Ideas?
Thanks, Chris, Vk4hj.
