Before trying ferrites on your smoke detector wiring, try cranking down your output power and use the minimum extent necessary
The data modes like FT8 etc. work well with minimum power, which is why they are popular for those in restricted housing environments like you, retirement villages etc.

Interesting.
I have a milsat antenna pointing NW, so I dialed up the frequency on my IC-R8500 and can hear it
Faint, but its there.

Are they also worried about airport body scanners, which operate much closer to one's person?
The June 2019 Silicon Chip editorial has some interesting points re the 5G service.

Re: Hand keyed Morse clarity
The other option you have is to ask the ACMA for clarification. As with many authorities, caution is warranted re asking clarification of some regulation, lest you get an answer/determination you don't want .... :) To paraphrase a saying when something is unclear: Sometimes It's better to beg for f...

Re: IC-9100 no TX audio fault & a fix
I bought mine back in 2012, with same options. I had a similar fault and separately some other glitch quite some time back. Did a partial reset both times and the unit came good. I put the causes down to thunderstorms in the area at the time, though if they were within about 5km the antennas would h...

Re: Chinese CODAN intruding into the 40m band
There was another post on the UDXF re that aspect: No way to get positions, imo the coordinates are secured (after command 121 [to announces the GPS data] there is a 110 command, which probably means 'secured'). Interesting that a Google search turned up this: https://www.smh.com.au/business/codan-f...

Chinese CODAN intruding into the 40m band
Posted on the Radio Reference forum by KA3JJZ: From Ary Boender in the UDXF- the list of logs is too long to post here, but here's the test. Any transcription errors are mine... Since mid 2016 I logged CODAN selcalls on 7, 8, 11 and 13 MHz. Until a week ago I didn't know who they are. Australian Sta...

Re: Loss of ABC Shortwave put fishermen at risk
The quality of reception in the middle of thunderstorms, I'm not sure. In any case, it would be relying on RA just happening to be broadcasting a warning about the cyclone at the time, and I don't know if they did that sort of thing in the later years, or the programming was simply a rebroadcast of ...

Re: Loss of ABC Shortwave put fishermen at risk
The wisdom of the ABC dropping their HF service aside, given what he said about radio conditions affecting the BoM HF marine services, he wasn't likely to hear Radio Australia anyway.

And if one is silly enough to be on FB, any pix you post on your private page becomes the property of FB for use as they see fit, even if your page is not public i.e. only access by members/invite.

Re: Is this for real?
AMC have a network of providers and invigilators, I imagine that this will result in an expansion of that network. They would be paid I assume, so it will be interesting to see if there will be any increase in exam and processing charges. Then there is the matter of these staff being qualified to c...
