Re: Field day GPS
Lou, Thanks, my aim was to have a compact board that sat nicely on the back of the screen, including the GPS. I am happy with the results as was the first time I have designed a board and got it professionally made. Image attached showing the final result sitting on top of my rotator controll...

Re: Field day GPS
Lou, Just came across your project, I have been playing with the NEO-7M GPS and a LCD screen. I like the extra information you have displayed. I have just got a PCB made that holds a 1602 LCD with a NEO-7M GPS and Arduino Nano in a compact package and am using it to display the UTC time. I ha...

John,
Have a look at this site http://www.dk3wn.info/p/
Not sure if what you want is there but a good list of active satellites to look at.

Re: TEFLON Coated wire
Another option is to look at irrigation control wire, not sure if its Teflon but it can be hard to strip.
Comes in many options including solid core, even Bunnings stock it.

Re: WSPR Ver 2.0 and IC7400
Simon, I am using WSPR ver 2.0 with a IC7400 and is working well, I am using the IC746Pro option, for some reason it works best with a serial rate of 19200, data bits 8, stop bits 2 and handshake set to hardware However if I try to use WSPRX I get a com error with the same settings :?: 73 from Micha...

Re: Station Master repair
In the past I had a station master in the Pilbara for a long time even though the Orange conduit is affected by the UV it is only used as a insulator and in every antenna I have seen the orange conduit has not broken, just faded, even after the aluminum has been bent by a cyclone the conduit has not...

Re: Dampier beacons 50 and 144 MHz
I stand corrected. VK logger has had to incorrect location for VK6RSX. It was showing it as still being on East Intercourse Island some 2 kM from the currently licenced site. 73s The Dampier beacons are located on EII in the old port control building, the old location was on the beach in Dampier I ...

RS Components also sell heatshrink caps with the glue inside.
You could also try chair ends, the type that go inside the tube.

Rick,
Have you tried HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe)?
Works well with the IC7400 and IC910, been using HRD for a few years with no problems, The CAT interface I am using is a cheep USB CAT cable from Ebay.
Just had to find the right USB driver

Re: If not big and a yagi for 6M what???
You could also try using a U dipole, the Dampier beacon is using one and is heard often Its small would be easy to make portable and does not have to be all that high, have a look at http://www.vklogger.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=8697 For a few pictures I wonder how 4 phased switched vertica...

Re: Is a foxtel ofset dish usable for 1296Mhz?
Thanks for all the feedback, looks like I will have to find a way to get te 2 dishes South next year. Want to setup a nice station once we get a house built, hope to be able to setup something for 2m, 70cm and 23cm, got a IC910 with the 23cm module in a few years you may hear me across the bite. Re: Is a foxtel ofset dish usable for 1296Mhz?
Thanks for the quick replies, Some good info, looks like it is not worth keeping so will find a new home for the dish, it came with a nice portable stand I do have a 1.7m solid dish wonder if it is worth hanging onto that I plan on moving South next year and will be on a nice high spot near Dunsbrou...

Is a foxtel ofset dish usable for 1296Mhz?
I have just got a poratble ofset sat dish and am wondering if it is suitable for 1296Mhz
or should I stick to a high gain vertical and posibly a couple of Yagies?
I also have got a 1.7 M dish could this be suitable to 1296Mhz also?
Thanks

Re: Antenna conundrum and advice required
If you are limited for height and space you could consider a MB vertical from COM-AN-TENNA (80 to 10M) Sit it up on the roof or a metal fence, if a metal roof/fence run a earth wire from the antenna to the roof or a few radials spread over the roof. I have been using the MB vertical for many years w...
