Re: ABMN0 going QRT June 5th
I'd like to know when this is happening as it would be worth trying to find an excuse to be on site that day. Photos of the process that day would be worth sharing. Cheers Richard Maybe some time to set up a camera to do a few time-lapse stills or an abridged version of video on U-Toob? Probably ta...

Re: ABMN0 going QRT June 5th
Richard, If we were able to get you to sneak in a portable repeater or a small beacon, see if you can get it hooked up? Anyway, and very seriously does anyone know of the end result for the tx rx link equipment, main tx, antennas etc? :?: Probably just going to be left behind to decay away. :...

ZL Beacon Back?
Thought I saw a chat post last night re-ZL2MHF back on air on 52.275Mhz @ 10Watts.
Be looking for this one from across the "ditch".
Good work guys. Mark.

Re: Project Horus FM Rptr Balloon Flight on Sun 15th April 2
Hi Trash (et al), Not that I'm a pesermist (yea right), but I'll fire-up the 1250FM ATV Rx & turn the antennas in a Nor-Westerly direction. If as has been stated with 300 plus km range should get a snif of some piccies into Sydney (if the signal can get through the smog) Only running an 8 over 8...

Re: 27Mhz CB Ringo to 50mhz?
Here is pic of the antenna above the HF dipole feed point. The tree is NOT mine but if it were, it'd have a bloody good hair cut!! BTW the 2 straps to the top of the outrigger are non-metalic, they are made of plastic orange tongue, between sheets of compressed particle flooring. Very rugged & m...

Re: 27Mhz CB Ringo to 50mhz?
OK, this may well be the last post in this topic. After thumbing through many diagrams, sketches & other on line sites, I bit the bullet ( or should that be a PL259 :D ) & stripped down the 27mhz CB Ringo to form a J-Pole. Construction was completed within a day & having some days off ( ...

Re: Hams encourage F Calls to run more power ?
Mmmm... When I was a nervous Novice about some 25 plus years ago we had to make do with converted synthesised crystal locked CB's, modified antennas & put up with a HUGE 30watts P.E.P limit (and we did MORSE CODE too!!) Oh and by the way, I only ever got about 9-11watts P.E.P out of my conv CB. ...

"And on the left hand side you can see trees, trees & more trees...... oh and here comes the ground at a great rate of knots.... thump.
Well, a hard landing is a good one especially if ya don't hurt yourself."
Now that would be riveting stuff....![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Re: 27Mhz CB Ringo to 50mhz?
Hi All... been thinking that the J-Pole style is the way to go.
Did it for my 2m/70cm dual band & that has given me more hype to have a go on a 6m version.

Re: Repeater Controller
Wouldn't a throat mic (old aircraft) style be the answer. At least we'll hear you reasonably well without the air noise? But then there'd be no "beep" on the height indicator.... ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

TRASH
Man if that's what you do for a few minutes for kicks, I'd hate to see what you'd do for a few hours/days therapy.I had a few spare minutes and a few spare components on the bench and the need for brain for the new local repeater.

Re: 27Mhz CB Ringo to 50mhz?
Well... for what it is worth, I have reduced the length of the main radiating element but simply mounted the antenna on a fence pole (metal) just to see (rather hear) if there is anything out there to listen to. :? For a giggle I tried keying the nominated operational repeaters in the Sydney area wi...

27Mhz CB Ringo to 50mhz?
Chaps, Newbie to the magic band.... I have an old 27Mhz Ringo & want to get it up on 50mHz. Seen a few ideas, but finding the "ring" size to be my failing point. (one web site in Italian only, anda mea speaka not la Italiano) Plenty of diagrams to make into a J-Pole (which is no biggie...

Re: Future of 50-52MHZ -deafening silence!
Slightly off topic... (and I am a newbie to 50mhz operations), but assuming that 50-52 is not allocated as primary service, what about applying for a chunk at 4mtrs (70-78Mhz) currently there are a few services that use the spectrum (all be it very infrequently) NSW Ambulance, NSW Police, NSW Fire B...
