Re: VK3RED East Gippsland back on air

Gday Rob. Every thing was normal at the site, the only thing was the frequency was about 300Hz high,
with luck it should come down a bit when the temp stabelises. we will see how it goes....

Cheers Ralph.

Re: GPS locking

I have a Jackson Labs LTE-LITE running most of the 3RGI beacons, 2m to be added shortly. The unit is available on an evaluation board and would need a distribution amp on the output. check out the link http://www.ebay.com/itm/LTE-Lite-GPSDO-Evaluation-Kit-with-10MHz-TCXO-/171504585820 The evaluation...

Re: Surplus NEC UHF amplifier modules.

Hi Mike, The heat sink is just a flat surface and the PCB is mounted on a spreader plate so not to short out the hybrid sections. What I have done is exactly what you said. remove the PCBs and cut up the heat sink into 3 bits. The spreader plate will let you put the module down on a larger heat sink...

Re: Surplus NEC UHF amplifier modules.

Hi Jayson, the original caps were 4 pf so 10pf sounds about right.

Re: Construction tips for Alford slot

I have built 3 and all have worked ok but I have trouble getting a return loss better than 15db. The slot needs to be the same width all the way along and it is difficult to do as the 32mm tube I used tends to spring appart when the slot is cut. I have had to put 2 small tabs at the feed point to fo...

Re: Power Amplifier for 5.7GHz?

Hi Adam, I use one and can confirm that the 10.6 is the 10 volt +ve rail. the -Ve bias is generated internaly.
FPM and RPM are the directional coupler outputs with anout 5mw in I get 5 watts out after a bit of snowflaking.
TX enable is not required.

Re: 3.4 GHz VK3XDK Transverter pictures

Here are some photos of two amps Ive built for 3.4 Ghz. They are of a design by DB6NT from the early 90s and use MGF0905 Fets. The small Amp has two devices and is delivering about 2 watts with about 50 mW drive. The bigger Amp has 4 devices and is producing 8 watts with 50 mW of drive. This bigger ...
