IC-9100 record option
Hi everyone have a few questions about the IC-9100, looking at buying one with the optional Dstar board, 3khz roof filter and the RS-BA1 remote control system. Now does the IC-9100 have on board recording for both RX and TX? the user guide is a bit vague on this? Also can you add a DTMF mic ...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Yes very strong signals too.... to be honest there probably is not a solution...VK5MTM wrote:They're back on 7020 LSB again tonight (~10:15 UTC).
Question is, what's the solution?
Do we DQRM the hell out of them hoping they'll go away?

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
BUT (and this is where it gets weird) - they ARE homebrewers! They are running variants of the Indian BITX low cost transceiver design, followed by individually-designed linear amplifiers based on International Rectifier "IRF" series switching FETS. So, the "biggest rig on the air&qu...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
That is part of it. Would be interested in what time you where hearing this. The singing and chanting is more at the bottom of 40m, lots of activity last night around 1130pm NZDTVK5MTM wrote:Is this what you guys are on about?

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Ok last night there was lots of activity with many signals on 6.995, 7, 7.010, 7.022, 7.035, 7.045 and 7.055Mhz lots of shouting, singing and chanting. I strongly believe these are NOT amateur radio operators, at no stage where there callsigns used also note the activity on 6.995Mhz (outside of 40m)...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Just slightly off topic if you go to this: University of Twente, Enschede, NL http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/ and select 5,10 or 15Mhz WWV frequencies you may hear something quiet odd (due to propergation you don't hear it all the time) There is music like swan lake etc followed by a string of be...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Top marks to those that correctly identified the language as Bahasa (Indonesian). It has been going on for years. It is partly nonlicenced "inter-island radio", and partly licenced amateurs. The shouting game (called "Lollo", apparently) is mostly licenced amateurs. An umpire li...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
I checked out global tuners - tuned in from Broome, South Italy and Spain - did not pick up any unusual signals on 7.00 and 7.05 Picked up some undetermined signals/interference on 7.00 using my radio - I would hazard a guess that the signals/interference is coming from Indonesia and surrounding ar...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
I was listening around 9:00pm last night and heard what I think you are talking about as it was in USB. Someone started dumping CW on top of them and after a while it all disappeared so that may be the answer. It wasn't nice CW either, had piss and off in it  Roger ZL3RC Interesting Roger, 9.0...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
As the dog woke me for a pee at 5am (1600UTC) I had a listen. For me the OTHR was strong about S7 and stretching below 40mtrs from 7Mhz down to about 6.7Mhz. Interesting I could hear the voices at intervals within the OTHR (at least the stronger ones and faint evidence of weaker) which possibly mea...

Re: Unusual signals on 40m
Last night I had a quick swing across 40 around midnight , two bands of voices/music as mentioned across the lower segment and complete chaos , no interest once identified as obviously complaining wont do a thing imho . I suppose a concerted effort might get some result ? This is an interesting sub...

Unusual signals on 40m
Hi everyone, interested in knowing more regarding some interesting signals on 40m (LSB) which sounds like people singing and chanting, sound like African tribes or something similar?? they come through most nights around 3am NZ time and range from 7Mhz to around 7.,1Mhz they are even amongst the CW ...

Re: Uniden Scanner - are they all deaf ?
I purchased a Uniden Scanner (UBC330CRS) off eBay this week. I was hoping to program it with all those other frequencies I listen to occasionally , Aircraft, Marine etc. Unfortunately I find it's deaf as a post. A signal thats S9 +10db on the TS-2000 is still in the noise on the Uniden. (and the TS...

Re: Claytons CW
Back some years ago I had a "K" generator built into my Icom desk Mic (used an IC-551D) and it works a treat the 'K" at the end of my transmissions stood out like dogs balls. Personally I can see nothing wrong with a "roger beep" or 'K" generator on phone transmissions ...
