Re: Apple Mac Pro Supply?
Hi Pete, Been supporting Mac product in my day job for years and I think the answer to your question is Yes. But you'd need to get a boxed genuine Apple one. I had a problem here where I had wide band noise in a direction that was normally very quiet on 2m. After doing some DF work I discovered the ...

Re: 5G rollout - something concerning
Sadly Adam a bit like the original scare campaign for the old cell network. That didn't work either as now that stuff is everywhere. You only have to drive around any residential area and spot all the mini cells sites on lamp posts on the sids of buildings and anywhere they have an RF hole to full. ...

Re: FT4 digital mode for contesting available for testing!
Gee its hard enough getting "normal" stations on in a contest let alone digital ones.
But thats VHF/UHF so HF may be different.
Thanks for the heads up and Ill be downloading and testing on 40m.
Cheers
Roger.

Re: FT-991 COM port issue
Hi Hayden. Ive been have a problem lately with the USB port on my FT-991 and I think Ive fixed the problem. While its a little different to your problem maybe the same fix will work for you too. What I was experiencing was the momentary dropping of the control "CAT" interface and the audio...

The DXMaps "customized propagation warnings by E-Mail" are very good to and gave me some good warnings last session.
You can configure them to filter out just what you need to know, very useful.

One of the old school "T" calls. We had a heap of fun those days and Mike was right in the middle of it!
Such a shock to hear the news.
We'll all miss him.
RIP Mike.

Re: Video: IC-9700 VHF/UHF/1200 MHz Base introduction
Just had a phone call from someone that has a new 9700 and is disappointed to find that the 10Mhz ref input isn't actually a 10Mhz reference at all. Rather its a 10Mhz input to automatically, after user input, to move the internal ref. onto frequency. Indications are that its stability after being &...

Re: An Unexpected Outcome of FT-8
So there is no point running 100's of watts of power if your signal is only going as far as the pacific region with ZL and JA. Both these can be worked on FT-8 with fair conditions using little more than 10 watts or less. You make the big assumption here that you know where the propagation is going...

Re: What has FT8 done for 6m ?
Everyone talks about northern hemisphere. We are not 5000k we are 13000 to 16000 km Makes no difference Steve. If I was new to the band 2000km would be DX maybe even 200km How come the South americans have stuck with jt65? Don't see the relevance of this comment as both modes have a 1st and second ...

Re: What has FT8 done for 6m ?
Don't stay on 313 is part of the answer. During the northern summer the US and JA stations had the same problem and 323 was used a lot. So JA DX ops know about it we just need to start using it. Maybe us 313 for even TX only and 323 for odd TX only. Dont know if that would work but its always going ...

Re: FT8 2 meters
OK lets look at this, is SSB going to die on 144.1, don't know and don't care as OUR ZL SSB calling channel is 144.2 Don't ask me why two countries so close together don't share the same SSB calling channels. Bit like the VHF contest days, just silly. One observation about FT8 I would make is some, ...

Re: 23-on-23+MAD - Sunday September 23, 2018
Thanks Scott. The 300Km is a result of living in a long thin country :-) It would be nice to have the numbers you have to work. It's building over here and we may have 6-7 10G stations on over the next contest so Im keeping my fingers crossed. If one of the 23-on-23 days looks good over this way ple...

Over here if its not a contest/field day or an arranged contact you'd be calling for a long time before you heard a reply!
Be interested in the sort of distances involved. When Ive taken out 10 and 5.7 over here Ive been working 300km or so path.

Re: What's on your Workbench?
This is a pic of the revamped ZL3TEN and ZL3SIX beacons. Not on the work bench but it was while I was building it up. Top down: ZL3SIX exciter which consists of a Tait 162 TX section, cut out using a Dremel and a cutting wheel, modified to run on 50.040Mhz. It will generate about 45w flat out but is...

Bit off the main topic but just thought Id put in a comment about the FT-991 being as Peter mentioned it. Ive had one for a while now and I would have to say I wasn't that impressed at the start but since Ive used it for a while now mainly on 6m and 2m I really like it. It makes the FT-847 that it r...
