Forum Archived - All can view and search

Forum History VK Logger Forum was established in 2006. Declining participation resulted in the Forum being suspended in 2016. It was observed that people had plenty of time for Facebook, but wouldn't contribute content to the Forum as well. So, let's give this Facebook thing a try? It became appare...

Groups.io - A better alternative

https://groups.io/img/org.1/mainlogo.png There are many useful groups to be found on Groups.io. Discussion is often more technically orientated, compared to the inane dribble found on FB. Some groups to consider and get you going: • Amateur Repairs 4,875 members https://groups.io/g/Amateur-repairs ...

Forum archived - no need to register/sign in

Forum History VK Logger Forum was established in 2006. In it's peak there were almost 3,000 members, but to keep the usage stats fair dinkum, the membership was regularly flushed of inactive users. Declining participation in the 'naughties' resulted in the Forum being suspended in 2016. It was obse...

Re: The big party of the VK Logger

Thank you for all the kind comments. Security and functionality updates on my two other websites, requiring a later version of PHP - the underlying reason behind having to discontinue VK Logger, wait for nobody! The circa 2003 coding of VK Logger does not work on PHP higher than v5.2, and support fo...

I cant see the point of posting waffle for the sake of increasing my posting numbers. Totally agree, which is why I specifically said: The primary aim of this Forum was to provide an easy-to-use platform, where people could share information about their projects and activity. This Forum is also ind...

Re: Lurking 101

From recent comments, 'lurking' may need clarification. We can all do without the pissing competitions. A potential pissing competition will put many people off participating in a Forum. Luckily, most of that has shifted to various Facebook groups, where the s**t shirrers spend most of their time no...

Lurking 101

 In Internet culture, a lurker is typically a member of an online community or PLN who observes, but does not actively participate. Lurking is just one form of free-riding that can happen within an internet community, and is similar to asking questions without responding or gathering inform...

Correct!
Search filter was 3400-3450 MHz.

Thanks for pointing this out, and it's now 3300-3450.

Beacon database entry has been updated so that 'nominal frequency' is now 3398.434.

I'm assuming someone will change the existing status from 'Off Air' to 'On Air' as appropriate.

Re: VK3 6m beacons

If anyone can assist with first-hand information, it's appreciated if you could communicate (there's that nasty 'c' word again!) by updating the actual beacon database. Posting here in isolation is great, but undermines the point of having the database. VK3FGN has been deleted from the beacon databa...

I don't see any rules around permitted liaison. Can you use spotters, loggers or even repeaters to liaise with others? http://www.wia.org.au/members/contests/generalrules/ WIA-General-Rules.PNG Despite that, there has been a demonstrated lack of interest (I don't dare use the 'a' word) in using VK ...

Yep, agree with Phil. The VK Logger Beacon database is very well supported by people making the effort to spot beacons they hear on the relevant Logger. vk5.PNG The benefit of an online community database that everyone can contribute updates. The VKL Repeater database is another matter, an...

Matt, you could rename the file to a 'txt' extension and attach that.
(Don't forget to mention that downloaders need to change it back to a .dxf entension once downloaded!)

Re: VK4RC 10m Beacon

 At the risk of sounding like a broken record... A good way to share beacon reports is spot them on VK Logger itself! Spots on the appropriate Logger automatically flags a beacon as being active. (This VK Logger functionality first appeared over 9 years ago ) Custodians and all users can then ...
