Re: What has FT8 done for 6m ?
After todays opening from the southern states into JA and BV anyone can not ignore the benefits we have gained using digital modes such as FT8 and JT65 on 6 meters. Could anyone a few years back ever dreamed that we could work the USA, South America, Europe and asia at the bottom of the sunspot cycl...
Re: FT8 6m DX
FT8/ JT65 has been a revelation on 6M. It is a tool in the box that can be used to provide all sorts of DX paths on an otherwise (DX wise) dead 6M band at the bottom of the sunspot cycle. Who would have ever dreamed of working Europe and South America at the bottom of the sunspot cycle. I think that...

Re: FT8 version 2 is coming
I bet there will be some confusion on the VK-SA path this summer. JT65, FT8 and FT8 version 2.

Re: low noise solar inverters
for sure Peter, it should be installed this week. The Aurora that I had (the ABB is the same unit) produced zero noise and is mounted 2M from the radios.

Re: low noise solar inverters
thanks Mark, its always a bit of a worry re rfi, you don't know until the units installed what you are going to see.I may still try and pick up an old stock Aurora if there is any still available. cheers Wayne

Re: low noise solar inverters
thanks for the replies Jayson and Peter, sounds like the Frontius might be the way to go. The unit is mounted in the house not that far from the radios so should the fan noise be a big issue Peter?

low noise solar inverters
hi all, My Aurora solar inverter has failed and needs replacing. The Aurora creates no noise issues but its hard to source another one. Any ideas on which of the modern inverters are the most rfi friendly. Would hate to replace the aurora with another brand and find I have RF noise problems. Wayne V...

Re: Lurking 101
The term lurker almost sounds like some sort of predator. Like most people I like to read various forums and learn heaps of useful information and ideas. If I think I can make a meaningful contribution I will post a comment. I cant see the point of posting waffle for the sake of increasing my posting...

Re: Check You License Renewal
mine comes up as expired as well, although it was paid by BPAY two weeks ago and they confirmed they had received the payment when i phoned them a week ago.I guess its just a big in their computer system so I would assume we continue normal operations seeing it is a problem at their end.

Re: Internet dropping out when TXing
hi all just a followup. After rerunning phone cables and fitting toroids on just about everything to no effect, I made up a low pass filter that rolls off above 2Mhz. It fits between the modem and phone line.Problem solved, no problems anymore with internet drop outs.

Re: 17 Meter Dipole Help Needed Please
hi Mike, there are lots of variables for calculating dipole length. 18.1Mhz by the formulae should be about 3.937M per side. But the formulas are normally for bare copper wire.Insulated wire and aluminium can be slightly different lengths due to velocity factor. Also if I remember correctly the feed i...

Re: Internet dropping out when TXing
I found several good designs for low pass filters on the net so I will make one and put it on the phone line where it goes into the modem. 40M is a real problem it is even interfering with foxtel which is a surprise. Have to go back to 6M no RFI there.

Re: Internet dropping out when TXing
Thanks guys, I have bookmarked the K-Y filter. I may look at a different modem or moving the modem to the other side of the house away from the antenna
Any other ideas will be appreciated
