Re: As of 06/12/2013 all of ZL has full access 50-51Mhz
I wish they would pull there fingers out here in VK and give full 6M access to Standard licence holders now that analogue TV is being switched off in VK. Good point and we may get 400Watts too (Pity it isnt a KW). ZL is becoming more attractive :) Come on WIA, there are a lot of members (Me include...

Re: How can I improve iPhone's reception?
Find a mate who has a Telstra mobile and check the signal. Maybe a carrier change will be the best fix. Floptus and Vodafail tend to have pretty average coverage and their data speeds tend to be slower too.

Re: Mic curly cord
Hi folks, The hand mic curly cord on my FT7800r has perished and split (common problem I've since read). No point in buying another genuine one so I am looking to replace the cord and seeking advice on where to buy the cord. Any tips for local suppliers? Cheers VK2VHF Hi Adrian how many cores is it...

Go Mark!
all the work put into the Beacons is appreciated, I always look that way because if the band is open i know your beacons will be the first to be heard. A Big Bad boy supply is of course needed for continuous operation. Head room is always an issue.
Cheers mate

Re: Cheap Power Supplies
Hi Terry, I've seen so many perfectly good supplies go for scrap. I know my employer sent a pallet load of Imark PS5020s to auction not long ago & I'm pretty sure they went for scrap value. Some may have worked, others may have had a blown bridge rectifier... either way, I think it is more a ca...

Re: Future of 50-52MHZ -deafening silence!
Why on earth do we need more band? Apart from a few beacons, you could fit all our activity in the first 200 odd KHz. We don't need FM or repeaters. David VK3AUU If you read the band plan for 6Metres you will see only the Eastern States are excluded (ie: VK4, VK2, VK3, and VK1) from operating 400Wa...

Re: New to 6 m band
Hi all, We are house sitting at the moment on a large property and I have therefore been able to put up an OCF dipole which operates on 40m, 20m, 10m and 6m. Not having used the 6m band much at all, I am keen to give it a go and was just wondering what frequency I should tune to, where I am most li...

Re: ACMA WRAP on HIGH POWER TRIAL
Hi Geoff I think your blanket statements are extremely naive. And there is no need to get upset i was only asking. This is the problem with these forums is everyone is ready for a argument. My self performed EMR audit was accurate and compliant. My tower is over 10 Metres above ground level and not ...

Re: ACMA WRAP on HIGH POWER TRIAL
Say a question that springs to mind is why are you involved in the high power trial discussion when you are a standard call? I would assume it would only be really of interest to the advanced licencees. Of course quite possibly you are going to upgrade? Oh I forgot, this is ham radio. A standard ca...

Re: ACMA WRAP on HIGH POWER TRIAL
How can one expect a great takeup when one needs to go out and obtain high power equipment that at the end may result in the equipment being of no use? Only the real keen and rich are likely to. Plenty of amateurs already own linears capable of more than 400W. All they'd have to do is apply for the...

Been playing with one of these dongles for about 6 months great little toy. Re: 1KW CW with High Power addition to advanced licence
Well, it seems that vague rules cannot be complied with to the satisfaction of the authority issuing them. I have been expecting a compliance audit all year, and received nothing. The only official communication I have received ever, is the permit from ACMA. My licence indicates I may use 1000 watt...

Re: 1KW CW with High Power addition to advanced licence
Rather than focusing on how something was communicated, why don't we deal with the real issue and that is that quite clearly the ACMA does not believe they can trust Advanced license holders to operate at high power in compliance with the EMR provisions. I assume from that that some have not being ...

Re: 1KW CW with High Power addition to advanced licence
Please see the two attached band plans as pdf's. The older pdf shows the 40M allocation 7.1-7.2MHz being shown as Primary. The latest pdf shows it as a Secondary allocation. I remember the change to Primary as it was a WIA news broadcast item following ITU changes in our ITU Region. Maybe they jump...

Re: 1KW CW with High Power addition to advanced licence
Hi All
Has anyone heard when the 1kw trial actually finishes and whether we are likely to retain the power level. I am sure it was said that August 2013 would be the end of the trial. I have looked but cant see an end date. My licence just lists a renewal date of 10/2/2014.
