Iv had mine on a generator and I hear down to -130 ish from memory. The only real way will to compare it with a few known good radios.. I suspect its more of a noise figure issue than being deaf. Yep.. radio power out is unstable for the first few milisecs, not that great if your powering LDMOS if you protection is not upto scratch. To get around this i dont use on AM or FM for testing.
