Re: What rope?
I also use highly recommend the UV stablished ropes from the sailing shops such as Whitworths etc. made to be outdoors all day and strong as well as small diameter if you have neighbour issues

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Folks the 10mhz Rb puts out a +13dbm signal with the spurious 75db below that. For those that are using these on Xref or triplers into a 910 does this sound reasonable? I havent really had time to test drive as only bolted in the Xref on the weekend.

A IC910 with a new Xref-VS and IF tap - sooner or later it just had to happen;-)

Interesting Rob! I have the same scope running 2.04 firmware. Thanks for the heads up. I assume its reversible?

Re: 2m EME - a beginner's perspective
Hey Rob, certainly inspiring stuff which 1) will save me time and give me food for thought and 2) make my EME goals easier to achieve. Good on you mate. Don't worry about the negative stuff. Grab the QSL card from your EME contact and put on the fridge so you can see it every time you grab a beer! c...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Hi Rob, thanks for the datasheet - haven't seen that one. Sounds similar to your die cast box then - just using a black al box. It does form a pretty good heat sink as is. The shack is currently 22 degrees with the inside of the box 50, so come summer when we don't need hand warmers it will be sligh...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
OK it took me a while to find the thermocouple but I now have made a couple of measurements. Without the fan running in the aluminium case, the inside temp of the case sits at 50 degrees C. With the fan running it sits at 37 degrees C. The fan is a small 35mm 12VDC fan running at 8VDC so is quite sl...

Re: A question of sequencing for 23cm
Yep the IC910H is a pain to use with amps etc Owen. As for the MOX tape over it or disconnect it. Not sure there is only one way? For every persons one way, another will use the radio differently and have different external components connected. For me having the radio permanently firing up a sequen...

Re: A question of sequencing for 23cm
Just a thought on the issue of the mic and frying LNA's particularly with single feeds between the amp and LNA and also Data Modes. I built an interface between the IC910H and the Amp that only allows me to use the mic when in voice mode and not data mode i.e your using WSJT and forget that the sign...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Hi Tim, thanks for the temperature info and link. Interesting. I'll stick a temp probe in the case. I'm using a completely sealed case with no air holes - so I assumed without some airflow this would heat up. It draws around 1amp when it is locked accorded to the lock output which I have lighting up...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Some more details: looks like the board I have does not lend itself to moving 67Kc. Not a problem as I have ordered an Xref which requires a 10Mhz input which also means I can use this for a couple of others uses such as weak signal source and freq counter. For interest the board I have is marked Re...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Thanks one and all, I have taken the 2nd unit apart and it looks nothing like the rev. in the pics Rob. I'll post some pics and details tomorrow. The MAX connects to pin 8/9 of the DB9 there does not appear to be a 2nd RS232 connection in the same location as some others. The test point on the board...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Giday Dave and Rob, luvyawork Dave on the XRef solution - very neat. Will go this way if neither of the two units I purchased can move the 67KC required. It would also mean I just need to build the one unit and not a 10Mhz and 32Mhz unit as I want a 10Mhz unit as well. Rob - mine has just the DB9 an...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Hi Rob, thanks for that. All is not lost I do want a 10Mhz unit as well. Its just I'm super keen to lock the IC910. I have another unit in the cupboard however purchased at the same time it may have the same issue. I'll pull it out on the weekend and see. Did you program using the 2C 09 00 25 aa bb ...

Re: Reference locking your Radio
Hi folks, I have recently built a 10Mhz std using the FE5680 and it works a treat - nice 10Mhz sine wave. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to shift this more than a few hz as per VK2XAX's post. My goal is 10.06666... Mhz which I am tripling for the LO i/p for a IC910. I note there are heaps of ...
