Re: Kenpro KR-1000S

Doug

Thanks for the reply and link.

After trawling through various sites, I thought I was on the right track.

I'm off to order the GC-038 clamps.

Thanks again.

Cheers.

Kenpro KR-1000S

I have inherited (for a small price), a Kenpro KR-1000S rotator. The rotator was allegedly faulty, would only move 4 or 5 degrees. Simple fix I thought. Repack the bearings with some grease and a check over everything should be good to go. Turns out the only problem was a broken mast clamp. This mus...

Re: FT857D display zebra

Unfortunately this is a commonly documented issue. There is a lot of discussion and remedies on the FT-857 Google group, along with possible causes. It does not appear to matter whether the unit sits in a shack (like mine does) or is in a mobile situation, sooner or later the stripes appear. Ron VK4...

Re: RA18H1213 Heatsink Flange Banana Shaped.

Has anyone tried a copper shim under their Mitsubishi module? I am in the process of building the Mini-Kits 23cm amp, and this banana thing on a flat heatsink is proving problematic, in terms of obtaining heat transfer. My thinking is a copper shim cut to fit between the mounting lugs with thermal c...

Groan... Just found this little gem in the Courier Mail. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/pirate-infiltrates-queensland-police-radio-network/story-e6freoof-1226653266535 At least they had the common decency to refer to the offender as a pirate, not a ham radio operator. However it is wo...

Re: Brisbane Test/tune/antenna day 2013

Is there a chance of another day occurring later in the year as well?

Reason for asking is, i have my transverter ready to go for Saturday, but i have to wait for a medical clearance, so I can go.

Cheers

Microwave power indicator

Looking for a circuit for a power indicator for 1296 Mhz and above. Sometime ago I saw a small circuit on the internet (forgot to bookmark it. Doh :x ) It was not a complicated circuit, simply a couple of SMD resistors, diode and capacitor built on the rear of a SMD connector, which was then connect...

Icom IC-290A Plug

Hi

I am looking for a 9 pin plug to suit the accessory socket on an Icom IC-290A.

Do these plugs still exist?

Maybe there is an alternative available that will suffice.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier, or maybe someone has one they are willing to part with.

Thanks.

Re: FT290R Display

It always amazes me that bomb makers (in the movies at least) follow a colour coding convention for their wiring
Maybe they are following an agreed wiring standard

Re: FT290R Display

Doug

It looks like a bomb.
The amateur that had it before me, did a number on the case, and a few other "mods", so it is a rough unit. but it works.

I think the red wire goes to the flux capacitor

Thanks for the replies and tips.

All sorted, can actually see what frequency I am on :D

Just need to put it all back together. Now where does the red wire go?

FT290R Display

Anyone have any experience in the repair of the display on a FT290R? (This is the MkI, or first version produced). I pulled my display module out to replace the bulb, but it appears it is suffering from "display displacement". Comes up will random figures/symbols. The display still works, ...

Re: Replacing oil filled capacitors

Well to put our minds at ease, I think the title of the topic is off the mark. On further investigation, the caps appear to be the non harmful type  (But I didn't lick my fingers) They look like an electro cap. It appears they are a paper/oil type. To quote from the parts list: C124,125. CPO2B...

Replacing oil filled capacitors

Hi team Just hooked up the the scope to take some measurements, and Murphy has moved into the schack It appears that at least one, maybe both oil filled caps in the HT area have had enough and leaked out. :( The parts list says they are .1uf 2Kv oil filled capacitors. :?: If it was your oscilliscope...
