Re: FT8 on 2m
Don't understand, what is the problem with contacts using FT8, its great mode, yes I still like ssb contacts particularly with stations I have worked over many years on VHF bands but in the end when it comes to completing a DX contact I don't care what mode, SSB, CW, FT8, JT65, RTTY etc. Conditions ...

Re: Another missed opportunity
If you check the 6m history in the logger for the date & time on 6m you will see there was propagation between ZL & vk2,3,7 at the time. I can find no reason for doubting the spots as reports indicate both operators were running 6m WSPR at the time. Having used WSPR for many years I have fou...

Re: Solar Cycle 25...how old will u be?
Health permitting I will be in late seventies, I was hoping for more from cycle 24 as I thought that would be my last chance but a fizzer. I'm sure I will still have interest in radio & 6m but whether I will be living at a property that will allow me large antennas etc, who knows. Whatever its b...

Re: WSPR Two Way Confirmations
Hi peter I did a quick search and found this on a forum from sept 2013 (http://wsprnet.org/drupal/node/4253); I asked ARRL their position on WSPR for DXCC. Here is their response: "Hi Doug: WSPR mode is set up in LoTW and logs with these QSOs will be accepted. For DXCC they would only count as ...

VK3 6m beacons
I'm setting memories in a new radio and would like to know the status of the vk3 6m beacons. There are 4 in the beacon database all of which haven't been reported or updated since last January.
Could you please advise and if possible spot or update the beacon info.
thanks & 73's Brian

Re: No more repeaters
Hi Damien [quote]I only use the WIA info. Theirs and whatever info is on this site is only as good as people keeping it up to date. The WIA set has continuous updates i.e. as information comes in their monthly summary is updated. /quote] I am a member of the WIA and I'm certainly not anti WIA but I ...

Re: No more repeaters
I'm a regular user of the repeater data base, it has become even more valuable now as several repeaters require tone access and the most up to date data is the repeater data base associated with VKLogger. Also now some repeaters are being upgraded to Yaesu's new repeaters with C4FM (digital) and thi...

Re: Help selecting and purchasing toroids
Hi Lance
I'm no expert on ferrites but recently I was sent this url.
http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/223/28A0807-0A2-599553.pdf
These are evidently special Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) ferrites recommended for use close up to the feed point on 2m.

Re: WSPR2 &CAT
HI Nev From my portable QTH I use CAT interface into my IC7000 & IC756 pro2 using a dongle from ZLP electronics http://www.g4zlp.co.uk, it works fine in combination with a signal link box for the audio interface. This dongle is far cheaper than the ICOM 4 port interface which I use at my home QT...

Re: WSPR Ver 2.0 and IC7400
Hi Simon If you are using HRD and have CAT interface from your rig to HRD go to setup WSPR and you will find Ham Radio Deluxe in the drop down list of rig, select that, leave network server blank and use VOX as the PTT method. I use this method with my IC756 pro2 and works fine. HNY & 73's Brian...
Re: WSJT-X
Hi Peter Cleared out settings as you suggested and reloaded program, all working fine now :D One other thing I notice with this v1.6.0 is that the distance it shows in the last column of the decode screen is different than the distance between stations in WSPRNet. It looks like the distance that it ...
Re: WSJT-X
Hi peter Thanks for the info, after some chasing around I found the files & deleted them but the problem still exists. It receives & decodes fine, makes one transmission and on the next transmission closes down, I then deleted the files and started it again same thing happens, have also trie...

Re: AIS Marine Tracking Sporadic E reports
Hi Leigh Interesting reports. At 0125 UTC I worked Colin VK5DK (Mt Gambier) on 6m E's at 5/9+, a rare short skip 464Km contact on E's and in the timeframe of your reports. VK3's were also extremely strong at that time. I did have 2m running as I thought it should have been open to somewhere but noth...

Re: Running costs VK3RRU
WSPR beacons would be a great way to go. The big issue is timing and frequency stability which probably means you need internet at the sites as well as a SSB rig, I think most beacons are old FM rigs.

Hi Shane
I think there is a good chance of E's on 6m to most of VK in the period you will be there, certainly will be looking for you on 6m.
