Well done Gary, you certainly settled into the Darwin environment with a bang, great work. How about posting a summary of your may activity here.
I should have been holidaying in Darwin not the USA

Re: Backscatter Radar
Well done Andrew & Phil.
Despite the negativity from some of the so called 6m Guru's, there is life after analogue TV.
Great stuff.

Re: Element mounting ideas/methods
Hi All... An issue I thought may be a problem but I could not see one, was the clamp holding the element down, it is iron I think, and has a nylon covering.....but testing....I removed the clamp on the 1st Director thinking maybe it they were an issue it would show up there, but nothing was noticea...

Re: WSPR 50 MHz
Undoubably these spots of of Rob VK5ZRL are incorrect but I don't think WSPR is the problem. This normally happens when you have changed band and have not got an interface from your radio to computer and have to manually change the band in WSPR and forgotten hence reports are made to the wrong band....

Re: Help with M2 23CM35 yagi
Hi Adam I use a M2 23CM35 yagi and mine tuned perfectly, in fact I thought there was something wrong with the SWR meter, it wasn't moving so put fingers across DE and sure enough up came SWR. I assembled it exactly as per their instructions, one of the hardest tasks getting the correct length elemen...
Re: 6M Poll
Clearly there is always going to be a variety of operator types and interests on 6 metres and that is how it should be. I will frequently be answered by local VKs when I am cqing for long haul dx - this is OK - I simply choose not to respond and they quickly get the idea that I am looking further a...
Re: 6M Poll
Hi Steve I wonder what this is all about, I will not be answering your suggested knowledge test on 6m, don't see any reason for many of the questions except to enhance some egos. if you want to push the call frequency issue or tighten the band say so and I may answer appropriate questions. E51E Aitutaki island Sth Cook Is
Worked Norman E51E who is operating from Aitutaki island, South Cook Islands this morning on 10m. He advised me he plans to erect a 5el LFA antenna on 6m tomorrow and will be running a beacon on 50.130MHz. Norman will be there until the 5th Jan 2013. see http://aitutaki2012.com/ Norman also advised ...

VK5VF 6m Beacon
You may have noticed that the VK5VF 6m beacon is now on 50.320MHz, previously 52.450MHz. It was reactivated over the last weekend (24/25 Nov) on this new frequency. Received Email from Mark VK5AVQ advising of the change; The Adelaide 6m beacon is again operation, and confirming "on-air" 2 ...

Re: PT0S Update real noise problems.
Yesterday morning 15th(around 2330 14th UTC) PT0S was good on 17m SSB beaming sth. They were up to 5/5 and the operator was excellent often calling for VK/ZL only or Sth Pacific. They were in here for over 2 hours that I listened and as well as completing myself I heard several other VK's complete w...

Re: VK0JJJ QSL ROUTE 2013-2014
Will Clublog be used which would enable you to use the Online QSL request system which many of the expedition are now using. Steve I assume Craig will be operating on other bands as well as 6m and that you are the QSL manger for all contacts and that being the case Clublog could simplify the whole p...

Re: JT65 clash with AM on 160M
I'm probably one of the JT65 operators that may have caused problems to the AM net. As has been suggested I wan't aware of any AM stations on 1.843 whilst using JT65, I along with other VK5's & VK3's were working W's & VE's with JT65 without any interferance from the AM stations. I'm very su...

Re: FM simplex freq used by SSB DX-ers
Hi, the thought had occured to me that there are probably a host of different 2mx FM simplex frequencies used by VHF / UHF/ SHF operators that are used for local liason. In the Barossa its grown to be 145.150, which the locals use for chatting as well and some of us have pirated to be SSB Dx liason...

Re: AIS Marine Traffic Tracking (tropo indicator)
ANy time I turn on 2M in a high or 70cm I can work esperance and we see analog tv all the time. And trigger repeaters over there but no one ever replies. Is there something new in these reports that increases or knowledge about VHF prop? Since 1974 so I dont bother these days. I very much doubt wha...

Re: 2/70 spots: 1st Week of January
Hi ALL Great maps, certainly brings back some memories, hard to forget 3rd Jan this year with all ZL call areas worked. Checked out 2010 and my log shows good contacts into VK6 on 5th Jan via tropo from VK5 & VK7 the morning before. Certainly a great way to show what happened and as suggested if...

Re: RD Contest - How would you improve it ??
Hi All I intend to spend a fair bit of time this weekend participating in this years RD contest, I hope others are planning to do likewise. I think the rule changes will improve the event and maybe some diehard HFers will look for some VHF contacts and vice versus. Only wish the rework rule had been...

Any Thoughts
After and interest afternoon of when the 6m band appeared to open over most of VK I received an Email from Davide IW9HII. It appears Davide heard me. At the time he says he heard me (0706utc) I was calling beaming towards NW VK6 as I was hearing the Dampier VK6RSX beacon (559) which would have been ...
