Re: Icom IC-9700 users topic

I am informed it will run generic mast head amps and you can set each band to correct drive power for amp. Be interested to see how good it is on 1296. VK3AXH reports working a JA on EME 432 and the JA says he compared 910 and 9700 and found 9700 significantly better for EME. We shall see. OPC 2350...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Hi Gary, I will take a stab in the dark: possibly a SGA-6289. A Google search for "MMIC A62" returns lots of possible devices, but the Sirenza Microwave devices are at the top of the list. Given that the HMC327 is rated as 30 dBm saturated output each, or +27 dBm each at P1dB, the pair wou...

Re: 3.4 GHz Transverter Conversion (3.5 GHz WiFi transceiver

Kevin,

I bought mine from RS. Still have the issue with courier delivery, but delivery is free if you order on line.
Can you organise for someone at the workplace to accept & hold the parcel for you? Perhaps they have a regular delivery site/location?

Good luck,

Re: IC-7300 - Software Defined Radio

Hi Peter & Tim, Yes, in Amateur Radio magazine will be the place. Given that we have a lead time of about a month and the radio has only just arrived, there is a VERY slim chance that it might appear in the May issue, but the June issue is more likely. I must admit, it is slightly odd to see a t...

Hi all, A new addition to the workbench. Picked up this afternoon and now listening to 40 m SSB. Hearing VK9CK on 15 m CW well earlier. It is here for a couple weeks to prepare a review. I understand that the first shipment to arrive was a total of 10 units only. IC7300s.jpg Impressed so far - very ...

Hi all, Just to clarify Lou's post, I believe it is Sunday.... OK, I have been slack - I do not yet have a panel working - still on the 'to do' list. I have started, but have yet to build the interfacing & PS boards. I will be based at Mt Hotham this weekend with a group that will be activating ...

Re: SOTA activation of "The Vere"

Hi Andrew et al,

It is VK2/HU-089.
It looks as if the SOTA summit is a little west and south of (and significantly higher than) the marker on the Google Earth image in this thread.

Re: Exam / Licence Price & Young People ..

Peter, if you are conducting the exam in the house of the person being tested do you bring the required radio equipment? Yes - Not much is required to put together a practical assessment kit. However, it is unusual to conduct an assessment at the candidate's place of residence. The recommendation i...

Hi all, The fire took hold very rapidly. I only had a couple of minutes to get gear out. All of the SOTA & /p gear was in the back and I had a little more time to retrieve it. RF wise, I lost: 1 x IC-2820 (body bolted to the underside of the front passenger seat, so I did not even try!) 1 x 2 m/...
