snip...And regarding SOTA, most SOTA activity I have seen/heard tends to be on 40m (usually hijacking the 40m QRP SSB freq) in VK. Hardly an alternative for a 2m contest :? ...snip 73 - Rob VK2GOM / GW0MOH Granted that much of it is in 40M but if you spin the dial there is loads of SOTA activity on...

Dare I suggest that SOTA is doing this pretty well already. There is a "contest" on pretty much every week end. You can play on a single band if you like. Or be adventerous and try Dx, local 2M FM stuff, digital. What ever takes your fancy.

Re: Ham Radio promotes tourism in the Cook Islands
Having had a few beers with Andy and Victor and his lovley wife in a few of the local bars around the island I'd say visting CI is a great thing to do. You are certainly popular when you call CQ with an E51 call. I worked the world on 20M with a budipole in the water and my FT 857D plus a car batter...

Andy,
Predication after you launch would be handy so I can see if it will come by my place. If it will I'll put trackers on for both transmisions.

In car video is changing the way this "game" gets played, from both sides. The routines from the past won't always hold nowadays. .

A quick video showing the severe drift on THOR16. This was the second to last attempted decode before it disappeared over my horizon. The outside air temp at the time was hovering around -8°C. Looks like I was the last VK station to receive the THOR16 transmissions. 73 - Rob VK2GOM / GW0MOH Rob, I ...

Yes, would need to be in range of primary radar to see it. Such as over the top of Sydney's Kingsford Smith airport.VK2FAK wrote:Hi all.................

By chance I just spotted a very strong and clear signal on the waterfall in dl-fldigi. Was centred around 789. I didn't decode it but am waiting to see if it appears again. I'm using an IC910H. It was the other VFO from a local repeater ident that created the the waterfall signal. I've just got ano...
