Re: XRef - 10MHz-Locked Reference Oscillator

Hi David , are you bringing some along to Gippstech? I am after a xref VS for my 910 and I'm sure there will be others after some too.

Re: ACMA letter on 2300-2302 MHZ band

Roger is right on the ball with this issue I sent in my submission regarding this sacred band as its the only link we have for EME on 13cm. As did the Central West Radio group as a general submission. 2400 upwards is way outside the filters and LO switching capabilities to operate and work the rest ...

pictures would be good, also any description of how you measured the return loss as you swept the antennas.
it looks like a nice bit of gear, but what extra stuff do we need to enable such graphical displays of antenna performance

Re: WYONG FIELD DAY - the wrap

thanks for the info, Mark. gravely ill sounds very bad. I was hoping to catch up with Neil and talk waveguide bends and homebrewing as usual at the field day. please keep us posted on the recovery. Wyong for us was a 5 hour drive (up at 4am) and despite the bad weather during the lead-up to the big ...

Re: Help with M2 23CM35 yagi

indeed great news, but i must ask, what can you see as a difference between the 2 driven elements? the plots look great for the new replacement one! on a sidenote, check http://vk1od.net/transmissionline/VSWR/vmhsl.htm it describes problems with cheapy swr meters that use 1n4148's as detector diodes...

Re: Help with M2 23CM35 yagi

Hi Adam, your comments about 'dubious swr meter' are well founded. that meter has problems. i have 2 of the avair av1000 meters that i use for 23cm. for a correct vswr reading only apply enough power to just get the 'calibrate' (fwd) to full scale with the sensitivity knob flat-out. then flick to re...

Richard, you clearly arent in touch with propagation in this region. the clashing frequencies are causing problems for any station on a high spot around orange, especially in the morning. Your comments to Ashley are offensive. if you dont have a constructive reply to add then please dont add anythin...

Re: Icom CR-293 High Stability Option in an IC-910

during an extended EME testing session with Rex vk7mo a few years ago he commented that my 910 with the high stability option in it had drifted 4 hertz in an hour.
i have measured it to be 74 hertz high at 1296, hardly worth adjusting it, and its consistent too.

Re: 10GHz from Mt. Conobolas?

hi Rob, I can give you a contact from here the mast with the TH3, 2m yagis and vert came down in the last big storm, which we have been fighting a bushfire for 2 days from, across the road. anyway, the 10gig dish got crushed as the guywire went through it as the mast fell wont take long to set up an...

The feed is just that . a feed for a big dish, not a replacement for a big dish. The photo shows him using the feed pointed out his window to hear the high powered sidesplash from his real eme dish setup sited only 3km from his house. It's circularly polarised and adding the extra section of mesh on...

as soon as you can - change away from those loop yagis to as big a dish as you can organise with a septum feed (google ok1dfc septum) yagis will allow you work the big guns, but being linear you are already 3dB behind the rest of us.. everyone except rare dx expeditioners uses circular pol I was wor...

Re: Show us your.... transverter

pipecap filters as an add-on pcb to allow the 13cm transverter to be tuneable to the EME segment of the band would be on my "buy straight away" wish list Graham
looks like you have got the pipecap setup nailed for the multiplier, well done

Re: any working EME

on 23cm a 2.5m dish is the minimum fed with a OK1DFC septum. using a 910h without an amplifier, you will be able to work anyone with a 5 metre dish or bigger using JT65C. add a 50 watt amp and you will work stations with 4 metre dishes. 120 watts into a 3 metre dish is good and will get you some CW ...

Yes, there is a healthy number of EME stations. But we have lost a stationary mobile 23cm EME station. Bob VK2ABP/VK0BP passed away recently. However Mark vk2ams, Brett vk2cdi, Phil vk4cdi and myself are always on 23cm working the world. Overseas they think VK is great DX so we are always in demand....

Re: IC-910 70cm TX power spike ?

i use my 910h into a vk5eme transverter with the power turned down to minimum and its been fine for years now. the sequencer has a bank of resistors as a dummy load and if there was a short spike it handles it ok. i have browned the resistors off a bit by accidently not turning the power down once b...

difficult contact Mick, but i thing my end might need a cleanup. i was hearing the dural beacon ok and you were there in the noise, but we burnt some mobile phone credits sorting it out and i had to call a stop to it. i will clean out the feedpoint and repeak the dural beacon. the main hingebolt has...

Hi Mick , i will be happy to give you a 23cm test. i get the dural beacon on the waterfall from here in qf46pv and pu from both shacks, so its likely you will be a good signal hihi

Yep, ABC radio carried the story today. lets hope he returns DSE to more of its older core values which is what brought it along so well in the past. but, lets think about that. they arent going to sell new kenwoods or yaesu radios by the dozen every day to justify the lease on a main road shopfront...
