Thanks to everyone who responded. You have all certainly given me some great ideas. I wasn't going to fit a winch but some of you think it may be a community service to the Patrol owners .. chortle, chortle.
Once I get it sorted I'll post what I ended up doing.

Yaesu FT-857 install into Landcruiser 200 Series
I have recently purchaesed a 200 Series Landcruiser and am going to install my FT-857 with the ATAS 120 into it. Before I start ripping it apart, has anyone done a similar install and can provide some ideas etc? Where to put the head end and the base ?

Re: Kenwood TS-2000
I purchased a T22000X approx 2 years ago now. I have had no trouble with it at all and am extremely happy with it's performance. I have also downloaded the memory management software from the Kenwood Australia site & this has proven to be very useful. If you are remotely contemplating using 23cm...

Inverter Airconditioners
I am considering building a room inside my shed to be a dedicated radio shack. An airconditioner will be a must. Does anyone have any horror stories that involve interference from Inverter Style Airconditioners? Be it radiated RF or interference generated on the power circuit.

Re: 52mhz activity
I'm with you on this one. VK4 was steaming into VK5 last weekend during the Field Day Contest. I was fortunate enough to make contact with VK4DJB & VK4NMC (thanks gents) on 52 and could here all the action on 50mhz. Can I encourage all of the Standard Licence holders who have 6m capability to ge...

Check out this link. There is info on how to modify the TX / RX on just about everything. If it has the mod yout radio has it should give an idea of how to undo te mod. I found it earlier this year by searching Google for Yaesu Mods.

Solartron 4940 RF Multiplexer
I have purchased this (pictured) Solartron 4940 RF Multiplexer (Antenna Switch). I have some basic information but was wondering if anyone had a detailed document on this piece of equipment? In particular I am interested to use the remote functionality that uses two 15 pin D Connectors on the rear. ...

Re: The demise of components stores
I went to my local Jaycar store yesterday to buy a ferite toroid to make a balun. Explained what I was after and quoted the appropriate FT numbers to the bloke who was serving me. Nice chap but ... unable to help. Jaycar catalouge indicated they had 3 only toroids & the website didn't have any m...

Stacking Yagis of Different Bands
I am pretty new to this game & am seeking some advice / info on how far apart should I mount 70cm & 2m yagis on my tower? Due to wind loading etc I will be limited to boom lenghts of approx 5mtrs on both but this should still give me a nice pair of "Long Yagis". I plan for them to ...
